Fracture

The day of the blizzard has arrived.
The music of Mystics drags us into a thunderstorm of syncopated rhythmic elements and electrical atmospheres. We can feel the rain flowing on our skins, the wind that violently pierces our bodies: the breath is missing, the raindrops are internal. The tension is present in an almost perennial way throughout the duration of this EP - it's more like a therapy.
AFN001 represents a declaration of intent, perfectly executed by Mystics. Already from the first release you can understand, in fact, what the label sets out: to explore the most melancholic and emotional corners of electronic music. forms of minutiae is pleased to share its first release — 'for scarpa’s fountains' by field recordist and composer Pablo Diserens (@pablodiserens). 

'for scarpa’s fountains' is an ode to Carlo Scarpa’s carefully organized matter and instinctive approach to raw elements and their coexistence with water. In resonance with the architect's work, Diserens blends field recordings gathered in the Venetian city and Scarpa’s spaces — such as sounds of fountains from the Fondazione Querini Stampalia and the Giardino delle sculture — with drone and rhythmical improvisations on cymbals and glass. This 25-minute long piece is divided into three distinct parts, each investigating various structures, materials, and memories. The two firsts segments are direct tributes to the architect in which Diserens uses copper and glass as compositional tools to create imaginary spaces that translate the subtleties of Scarpa’s forms through circular drones and transients ballets. As one wanders through these sonic rooms, or perhaps gardens, one also hears the long chants of cicadas and faint murmurs of passing visitors guided by the fountains’ drizzles. In the last section, listeners emerge from these architectonic apparitions with a surreal soundscape of Venice at dawn. Seagulls cry in unison from a sleeping city’s roofs, while a lonely figure drags a suitcase on the stone pavement unveiling the street’s relief and narrowness. The piece comes to an end as it dives back into Scarpa’s dripping waters. 

'for scarpa’s fountains' celebrates the juxtaposition of various (sonic) materials that produce triggering patterns of (acoustic) memory. 


Pablo Diserens is an acoustic ecologist, field recordist and composer based in Berlin who engages with various topo- and phonographies with a wide range of visual and sonic recording techniques.

Il suono di CCRUEL (Sofia Perrone) si articola su paesaggi distopici e ci guida verso scenari post umani dove possiamo intravedere le scintille dell'elettronica che danzano tra le vie del centro urbano. La sostanza musicale è del tutto eclettica, i diversi sistemi di frequenza entrano in connessione con il fruitore, plasmando nel momento dell'ascolto la visione e la percezione.
E' una spinta emotiva lontani dai classici schemi e standard musicali, la sperimentazione sfiora diversi stili unendoli in un unica materia, fatta di suoni suoni ricercati ed intelligenti.

CCRUEL (alias Sofia Perrone-1996) è un’appassionata di musica a 360 gradi, collezionatrice di una vasta scelta musicale in vinile e parte del collettivo Knick Knack dal 2015.
Per lo più influenzata da suoni sperimentali, jungle, break ed hardcore, il mix di Ccruel esplora una miriade di sfumature, portando l'ascoltatore in una dimensione del tutto nuova ed eclettica.

Eastern Nurseries is proud to bring you its first vinyl release, a reissue of "Introvert Musik" by Copenhagen resident and multi-instrumentalist, Bjarke Rasmussen.

Curator of the excellent Infinite Waves imprint and working often under his Grøn alias, Rasmussen’s body of work sets to explore composition through means of repetition and minimal instrumentation. Composed for cello and grand piano and intended as a study on spatial ambience, “Introvert Musik” was recorded as part of a number of sessions at Blågård Church in Copenhagen last Spring and self-released by the artist on cassette shortly after. A patient reflection of the space and time of the recording itself, all eight pieces encompass the architecture of the room with finesse, painting a beautifully sparse picture of the interactions between performer, listener and location.

It is music for shared imaginary spaces, of memory and communion - contemporary human music at heart.
