Apartment 54, fifth floor. Sveta is smoking on the open balcony, wrapped in an old puffer jacket. It's the typical timelessness of a weekend day when it's impossible to tell exactly what time it is. Children in snowsuits that make a «whoosh-whoosh» sound while walking are dragging a huge snow tubing somewhere, and a group of red-faced men, drinking on the bench in front of the building, just emptied another bottle of vodka. But Sveta isn't here — she's in Sochi twenty-something years ago. Blond-haired Sasha sees her off at the platform. He arrived ten minutes before departure: his eye is bruised («last night got into a fight with a guy from Tambov, nothing to worry about»), and he's holding flowers, plucked from a flowerbed. He promises to call. But it never happens. Where is he now? And on which balcony would she smoke, if he had called twenty-something years ago? This year's final episode of Audio Forage features Emma Robertson, all the way from Berlin. We had a lovely, deep and reflective chat about her experiences interviewing music icons, from Donato Dozzy to Nelly Furtado. We also delve into the sacred art of interviewing, the importance of sharing stories, and the value of genuine curiosity in uncovering deeper truths.

Emma Robertson is a Canadian music journalist and editor based in Berlin, Germany. She is currently the executive editor of online pop culture magazine The Talks, as well as the creator and host of AIR, an interview podcast series featuring figures from electronic music and beyond. A regular contributor to publications like LOLA Magazine, Borshch Magazine, and the now-defunct RedBull Music Academy, you can also find her work on platforms like Resident Advisor, and Refuge Worldwide. 

We also end the episode with a beautiful, moving and groovy mix by Cash, who is the host of the monthly radio show "Another Thought" on Area 3000, where he explores the chiller side of his music taste, which includes lots of variety and eclectic music selections. Over the past decade, Cash has had some great opportunities performing at friends' events and contributing to various mix series. Highlights include creating a Space Cast mix for Bex and playing at the highly anticipated recent gig with Spincycle and Life World.

It has been a full circle moment, as Emma and Cash met at Waking Life in Portugal this year, and Cash was the reason why and how we found out about AIR podcast and Emma's incredible work.
