The Moog Sub 37 is such a deep instrument, currently going deeper into it... to spelunking the sonic potential submerged 37 levels deeper than deep...

Loving the dark notes. An original composition by Peter Lount of BadRectifier.band played on a Moog Sub 37 phatty Limited Edition Bob Moog synthesizer. It's an epic music instrument. It does the dark notes very well. Played on the very Moog Sub 37 pictured with this sound cloud track image.

The Moog Sub 37 has a phat filter wheel, seriously it is the largest dial on the unit, that when twiddled modulates the sound in an amazing way... while notes are played pitch isn't the main source of the modulation, the Moog Filter Phat Wheel is! That's why it is a Sub Phatty after all! Yes! Nice. 

BadRectifier.band | Moog Sub 37 Filter Wheel Modulation

The Moog Sub 37 Phatty is a subtractive synthesis semi-modular processing synthesizer with the most kick ass Filter Wheel. Modulating the sound with this filter as the primary modulation method, few notes are played, most of those are just one octave down from Middle A (440 Hz). It's quite stunning. Phat.

BadRectifier.band keeps pushing the limits of what is acceptable music with the Glow In The Dark Monster unleashed from the heart of darkness itself, the Roland AIRA System-1m. 

Even Pluto exited the solar system to the dark cold recesses of the Oort Cloud... and could not escape. The amazing sounds from the deep dark heart of this wonderfully deep dark glow in the dark monster can't be understated.

Got the Intellijel Metropolis step sequencer and the other gear installed in the rack. Took the Metropolis for a spin driving the Roland System-1m and it's a hoot! Loving it. Very exploratory... kinda science fiction sounding... cool... Having way too much fun.

ElectroBongoMayhem, a form of synthetic. Beats. Electro. Layers. Many layers. Bongo layers. Mayhem layers. Voice layers. Timed. Not timed. Evolving. Free running machines playing machines. Dial twiddling with an ear for what sounds great or beyond awesome. Recorded live in one take to one track, no editing at all. Enough said, "13 Can You Hear Me?"

Exploring Dial Modulations. Highly experimental patch Metropolis driving Mutant Bassdrums processed by forked independent Aira Effects and System-1m paths. The bass drums by HexInverter are kick ass. Processing them by the Roland Aira effects units, Scooper, Demora, Torcindo, and BitRazer and at the same time by the Roland System-1m is quite stunning at times and utterly hopelessly strange, bizarre, over the top, under the bottom, inside out and spacey back to grounded bass drums. A wild ranging wondering exporations of the possible sounds from these systems. The Metrpolis from Intellijel kept the pounding sequence going at 60 BMP and then later on, you can hear the pace change, up to 128 BMP, a common club beat pace. Oh, and least we forget the Korg SQ-1 provided LFO CV and Gate modulation to the various parameters of the Aira Effects units at various times. Recorded to a Zoom H6.

Optimistic Nihilism Alpha 001 Pace The Wave

Two Roland Aira System-1m units driven by the two channels of the Arturia BeatStep Pro. One at 64 steps per loop and the other at 16 steps per loop in the middle that comes and goes. The chain represents the notes in a step sequence.

I totally fail at 4'33" for two reasons, this piece is 4'43" long, and it doesn't have much silence, if any.

My nascent modular and non-modular friends... started in the late spring... with a Teenage.engineering OP-1... followed soon by the Roland Aira System-1m, the four Roland Aira FX units (each with front panel effect and six virtual eurorack modules for a total of 28 eurorack modules in one 84HP row!), an Intellijel Metropolis, HexInverter Mutant Bassdrum 808 kicks, more eurorack modules... TipTop Z3000mkII, MakeNoise Maths, tons of Synthrotek kits, ... with WMD Gamma Wavesource and two Moog Mother-32 pure analog bliss on order... www.facebook.com/1416018635393736…1481853765476889.

I've never used just about all my Roland gear in a piece... the only Roland musical thingi I didn't use was the Aira FX Scooper! Oh, nor the PLUG-OUTS... oh and only one System-1m in use this time... oops, didn't use the VT-03 Voice Transformer... so most of my Roland gear is in play.

I used my Roland Aira System-1m, Aira FX units Demora delay, Torcindo distortion and the always wonderful BitRazer for the crushing of bits; not to forget the incredible venerable RD-100 stage piano and the majestic new JDXi, with a nice arpeggiation by the classic JP-8000.

In addition two Moog units are at play in the piece, a Moog Sub 37 doing it's own arpeggiated sequence, and a Moog Minitaur being driven by the venerable Roland RD-100 stage piano via Midi Din. A few other Eurorack modules are also used aside from the one's mentioned above.

A requiem for all innocents caught up in the cycle of violence of all of those who use violence for political purposes.

The objective reality of Nature is a harsh mistress to us all, some more than others. Why do people choose to use the initiation of violence to solve political problems? They are driven by ideas that violate the rights of others... in pursuit of their dark visions that violate consent.

I wrote this dark piece as a requiem for all the innocents caught up in the violence and mass murderous acts of #all those who are dedicated to using and initiating aggression, violence, murder, weapons, destruction, ... to further their political goals. This applies to all who use violence. Self defense is one thing but the slaughter of innocents by any group of people is a war crime. War is never justice. As soon as one innocent is murdered those involved have become war criminals and need to be brought to justice.

Arpeggiating a chord and taking it where the feels lead me so that I could express the music that already existed in the realm of possibility. I actually arpeggiated two chords, one with each hand. The left hand sustained the dark notes throughout most of the piece. The right hand explored the other emotions.

The full title is Requiem For Innocents Everywhere And Everywhen.
It was one take till the emotion felt like it had been transcribed into music. No edits other than fade in/out and level adjustment.

The Roland JD-Xi is just damn extremely insane. This piece was created for, submitted to, and played at the Groundwerk Vancouver GW006 event. Six hours of jamming, then listening and selecting one six minute continuous clip. This is a complex set of layers with two synth tracks and twenty six drum kit instruments with evolving 64 step loops throughout the piece.
