Montréal-based musician and composer Kara-Lis Coverdale gives concerts made for full body immersion, multi layered through multi timbral synths, her computer a virtual organ engine. Couched in symphonic, post sacred tonalities and harmonies, the music on Coverdale’s releases Aftertouches (on Sacred Phrases) and A 480 (on Constellation Tatsu) uses virtual sounds from vocal and instrumental sources to confront traditional genres and consolidate them in the artist’s own precise ways. Currently an organist and music director at St. John’s church in Montréal, Coverdale contributed piano and keyboards on friend and mentor Tim Hecker’s Virgins album in 2013 and most recently has collaborated with LXV (musician David Sutton) on their 2015 album, released by Umor Rex. Her live set for MUTEK 2015 draws on that album and recent compositions of pipe organ, sensorial electronics and glittering drones while leaving room for inspired improvisation.

More than 20 years ago, Rephlex records signed Perälä after he bombarded them with IDM-styled demo tapes under the moniker Ovuca. His palette evolved and expanded into a lush tapestry as Astrobotnia, leading to more minimalist releases under his own name while he studied music technology and experimented away from his classical piano training. With Rephlex co-founder Grant Wilson-Claridge they set off on experiments that tied music theory, philosophy, science and mysticism together, and invented a microtonal tuning system named Colundi.

Dettmann is one of the definitive figures of contemporary German Techno. One of the most iconic performers to grapple with the current standing of Techno music, one needs to review all of the experiences that have placed Dettmann in this position as the spokesperson for the German dance scene. From his first experiences as a record seller in the former East Germany of the late 1990s, to being the go-to representative of Berlin's legendary Hard Wax record shop, he was also resident DJ at the famed club, Berghain. Dettmann has been there at every key moment in the history of German Techno.
Crude, hard, and with no sense of the taboo, Dettmann's mystique is still always shrouded. Colombian producer, Faunes Efe, stands behind a slew of prolific albums and EP’s released under the Filmmaker project, quickly building a cult following amongst those with an affinity for dystopian electronics steeped in an alluring, seductive darkness. From earlier self-released works such as ‘Visceral’, a 10-track full length work modestly described in Efe’s own words as the “First occult-orientated soundtrack from an experimental lost film”, to the 808-shots of ‘Nocturnal’ and later with the grainy, low-fi electro of ‘Wetwork’. Each successive release proves Efe’s capacity to execute productions of magnitude across the electronic spectrum, yielding body moving music from a small arsenal of honed hardware.

Filmmaker’s material derives from an unadulterated exploration of the sonic realms, utilising multiple formats and artistic mediums; documented through a series of original cover artworks and short films created by Efe. In the space of a year since its inception, Efe began touring as a live artist under the Filmmaker project, from his home-base in Medellin, to clubs and spaces throughout the Americas and Europe. 2019 became a defining period for Efe’s musical trajectory, with the release of the acclaimed ‘The Love Market’ LP on Berlin-based Detriti Records and later landing on esteemed UK label, Opal Tapes with his 6-track ‘Unregulated’ EP, followed by the 7-track dark wave masterclass ‘Noir Times’ EP on Valencia-based, HC Records.
