So when we went to save this beat, that was the name... and it somehow just stuck 🤷‍♂️

Also, I have absolutely no idea what the album art has to do with any of this. It is a cardboard box assembly guide turned into stickman parkour. bahaha!

Born and raised in the Honey Island Swamp of Louisiana, Savej, pronounced [savage] - has always been fascinated by the mysteries of the cosmos and the wisdom held by ancient cultures. Last year, Savej released his Solstice album, taking listeners on an auditory conscious exploration through man’s connection to nature, cultural wisdom, and ancient cultures. Now, Gravitas and Savej present twelve new remixes from Solstice from artists such as MORiLLO, An-ten-nae, Basher Toe, Somatoast, Zebbler Encanti Experience and more.

Ahee takes title track “Solstice” to new levels with his high energy and captivating remix before An-ten-nae spins “Equinox” into a grimey track, full of deep bass and tribal themes. With an emphasis on elevating the original track’s composition, Lil Fish remixes “Eye for an I” with his signature classically cinematic soundscape. Visional brings a heavy significance on the vocals in “Solstice” while adding guitar plucks along with a heavy bass line. MORiLLO adds his reggae style to “Equinox”, guiding the listener through a laid back auditory safari. Zebbler Encanti Experience joins the lineup with their remix of “Vilca” full of glitchy breaks and bass bounces. Gravitas remix contest winner, Moai System, transports the listener into a divine state with their remix of “Solstice”. Oscillating bass and thundering drums are brought to us by Wolf-e-Wolf in his remix of “Vilca”. Chamberlain infiltrates the senses with thumping bass and rebounding womps in his remix of “Sirens”. Celebrating the beauty of the original track, Basher Toe adds an extra psychedelic layer to “Solstice”. Somatoast subtly weaves in glitch breakdowns and expansive swells in his remix of “One Truth”. Rounding out the remixes, Evan Hatfield elevates “Solstice” to a cinematic degree with an empyrean flair.

‘Another example of our very own Korrupt’s A&R efforts, we welcome three new artists to the FKOF family with our 55th digital EP. Olaf contacted Davide, aka as EKSTR, and the two of them teased out the four tracks we ended up signing. It’s a family vibe, but even more so with everyone involved. It’s awesome to see FKOFd002’s 11th Hour still releasing with us the best part of a decade after Jason’s debut outing (more on that soon), and equally awesome to see Russia's Ninety and Bristol's ØZ join the roster with their efforts. 

‘FKOFd055 kicks off with EKSTR’s solo outing — the aptly titled ‘Inspiration’. It’s a crisp stepper that crescendoes to something special. The percussion in this tune is next level. Track two welcomes Ninety to the party, with ‘Blend’. It continues where ‘Inspiration’ left off, but adds some extra Ninety spice to the mix. A nice touch. 11th Hour and EKSTR strip things back to their sparsest with ‘Calling’, all stretched samples and meditative, eyes-down vibes. Beats, bass and space. We call things to a close for track 4, on the ØZ and EKSTR collab ‘Photic Zone’. It brings the swing and is designed to get the floor moving in the dark corners of an early morning. 

‘Separately, the four tunes on EKSTR’s FKOF Records debut say a lot about Davide’s skills on the buttons. Together, alongside the EP’s equally talented collaborators, we know the artists in this group are onto something special. This won’t be the last we hear from the four producers on our imprints and, who knows, maybe we’ll see more ‘…& friends’ releases come to FKOF! Whatever happens, we hope you enjoy FKOFd055 in whatever form (standalone or as the four tracker) takes your fancy.’

Tribone joins Gravitas Recordings on May 30th with a dark psychedelic bass EP that shook us to the bone.  This EP and Tribone’s production combines tribal elements with gritty bass grooves, uses organic percussions to accompany driven synthy melodies and maintains the dark and kicking stompi rhythms of his approach to psychedelic bass music. It still leaves room for natural sounds and other organic textures that inspire his music and sound design.  From big drums to vocals and the animal world, this flawlessly brings together all kinds of atmospheres and foley for a unique style of bass music.

An Inch of Silence opens up the EP with this surreal tribal rhythms and forest soundscape, transporting the listener into a dark jungle.  This long epic build peaks and drops into a heavy bass driven tribal groove that follows the same drums teased throughout the long build, accompanied by stabby synths and enchanting flute rhythms.  Roar builds upon this previous energy, bringing in actual animal roars and getting straight to business with heavy wubs and glitchy sound design building around the roars and staying true to the song’s name.  This is a stand-out track and is the only single off the EP May 23rd.  Aniraco slows down the energy in what feels like a perfect call and response, opening up with beautiful flute and tribal elements.  A perfect flow jam, it builds into heavier bass and sound design but focuses more on the drum rhythms and not overwhelming with heavy sound.  Losing Touch builds another beautiful forest soundscape with birds chirping that slowly builds into a drop of thumping bass and psychedelic foley and sound effects.  The drop feels almost like a ceremony and brings in vocal chants and more signature sounds to close out the EP in a beautiful way.  It leaves you wanting to hear more from this talented artist and is a full journey through his sound.

Often referred to as 'The First US Bass Music label' , Muti Music has been pushing emerging and established genres of bass music since 2002.
Muti  Music = Medicine Music.
In South African English, the word "muti" is used to refer to all sorts of herbal medicine. It is derived from the Zulu/Xhosa word umuthi, meaning "tree," whose root is -thi. In Southern Africa, "muti" and cognates of umuthi are in widespread use in most indigenous African languages as well as in South African English and Afrikaans, which sometimes use "muti" as a slang word for medicine in general, or even as a term for 'good luck'.
