My Favorite Robot very much prizes quality over quantity, and so it is that they offer up their carefully chosen autumn vinyl release, namely another landmark EP from key label artist Eric Volta. Fleshing out his killer originals are remixes from Swiss star Deetron and Volta as Voltaeric.

Volta is a synth whizz who crafts cinematic, epic, emotive music for this label as well as No.19 Music. He has emerged as a real star in the last year or so and is able to marry dance floor clout with a truly cerebral sense of musical storytelling.

It’s that kind of musical narrative that he offers up here to great effect with an EP which starts off with a scene-setting recording of some frightened breathing and a torturous synth line that grows unbearably loud then dissolves to a post apocalyptic hum. It’s unsettling but really gets your attention before ‘Until I Dissolve’ drops, an absorbing brew of searching sci-fi synths, wood block hits and thick melodic gurgles. A spoken word vocal muses up top and the result is a truly dark and futuristic groove.

‘Heartbeat II: Cry’ is two minutes of excellently evocative sound design, pained synth lines and cosmic energy that really makes this EP feel like a story, then we have ‘Deliquesce’, a Vangelis like prog track rich with reflective chords and rippling melodies that really tugs at the heartstrings.

Deetron—a real house and techno specialist who has proven himself in both EP and LP format over the years—remixes this one into a more slow burning but all consuming main room track with bold drones and glassy melodies. He also offers up a beatless dub that is equally engaging as it grows ever more manic. Finally Volta remixes his own ‘Until I Dissolve’ into a whacked out, synth laden techno cut that is brilliantly dark and weird.

Few EPs feel like as fully realised a sound world as this. Even more impressive is that Volta never loses sight of a dance floor groove whilst telling his compelling synth based stories.

Carreira iniciada em 2007, porem as referencias são de infancia onde sempre foi fã de depech mode, pet shop boys, art department entre outras.
Iniciei tocando em festas particulares, mas consegui fazer muitos contatos e já em 2008 toquei em muitas privates e comecei a ser visado para as raves do Rio de Janeiro, em 2009 fiz parte de muitas equipe de DJS em festas grandes e destaques como ZONA 1, SHIBUIYA VIBE, ON DAY que foi minha primeira festa onde ainda se chamava DJ SKY 9, em 2010 fiz um curso de DJ e se profissinalizei e montei um duo com o DJ MICHAEL ASSUMPÇÃO duo esse chamado SKY & WATTERFALL que apesar de residir no Rio de Janeiro, nos destacamos em Minas Gerais como residentes da radio transcontinental - MG, e de volta para o Rio fomos contratados para a radio Manobra FM tocando no programa DANCETRONIC. 
Em 2011 eu que estava na dupla SKY & WATERFALL, voltei a atuar solo como DJ Alex Menezes e lancei a equipe SUNSET SOUNDS, onde fui contratado para a radio TRANSOESTE FM, toquei e ancorei o programa SUNSET SOUNDS, onde todo final de semana convidava inumeros DJS para tocar no programa, o SUNSET SOUNDS era o programa de musica eletronica no horario da tarde nos dial das radios da zona oeste. Ficou no ar na radio ate 2013.
Depois sai para seguir carreira apenas nas festas, porem em 2013 fui contratado para a radio FÊNIX FM de Minas Gerais onde vireu o DJ residente do programa NITRO NIGHT, programa de musica eletrônica de maior expressão em Minas, fiquei na radio ate o meiado de 2013. Ainda em 2013 participei do top 100 da revista electro mag Brasil.
Com centenas de amigos DJS já toquei com importantes DJS na cena carioca como: G-meos, Bruno Torres, Rodrigo Pandolfi, Piloto e já cheguei a tocar com o internacional DJ Tadjudin AKA Altuna Music (Indonesia) e C-kirk (USA) entre outros.

Minha influencia é Fairmont, foi o DJ que fez meus olhos brilhar quando o vi tocar um live set.
Desde 2011 ate o final de 2014 produzi o podcast PEACE & LOVE onde todas as ediçoes no final convidava DJS para finalizar o set. 

de 2015 a 2020 fiquei fora das pistas, desisti de tocar e fui seguir carreira em outra area não musical, mas em 2020 eu volto com um nome que significa renovação, ressurgimento, renascimento...

My Favorite Robot Records has been a strong force in underground electronic music since 2008.

The Toronto based label is an offshoot of the act “My Favorite Robot” formed earlier in 2002 by Jared Simms and Voytek Korab.

The label has managed to consistently release quality music by some of the electronic dance world’s most renown producers such as H.O.S.H, Kenny Glassgow, Jori Hulkkonen, Eric Volta, Sasse, Fairmont, Tiger Stripes, Tim paris, Chymera, Sid Le Rock, Tim Green, Clarian, and My Favorite Robot themselves just to name but a few and there is no slowing down for them!
