Melbourne-based Jones cut her teeth on the local scene before touring internationally as a vocalist with Clairy Browne & The Bangin’ Rackettes. It was here she met her lead guitarist and songwriting partner, Jules Pascoe (Husky, Jazz Party, Jaala). Following the group’s dispansion, Jones and Pascoe delved deep into a rich back catalogue of songwriting and alongside bassist, Joel Loukes (Riley Catherall) and drummer, Selwyn Cozens (Buttered Loaf) conjured new work teeming with themes of euphoria, loss and redemption. 

Make It Out gathers all three of these subjects into an unlikely but captivating trio, juxtaposing bitter melancholy with the sound and instrumentation of something much brighter. Loukes’ unmistakable musicianship shines in the bass line, as does the rare strength of artistic connection showcased by these four incredible musicians. 

“Make It Out examines those toxic, cyclical processes that take hold of us like a drug,” says Jones.

“Wrapping this feeling of hopelessness in a more upbeat skin captures that feeling when you know something is disastrously bad for you but the stranglehold is so intense that you can’t get away.”
