Mysteries of the Deep Podcast

With Adhémar's cross-continental musical journey we're glad to show you the live set number eleven of Melantónia. The multi-disciplinary artist establishes his universe through music and visual works, constantly in search of the luminous quality of sounds, in a world made of shadows and light, his music is closely linked to his plastic work.
This obsession with shadows leads him to think and create spaces, atmospheres that focus on the lightness and poetry of light. The idea of "narrative potential of music", allows us to confront the psychological and philosophical journey with a particular relationship on what is alive and what surrounds us (whether it is the material, immaterial world, the fact that everything is constantly becoming). With a particular rigour for transitions, whether in his own production or in his DJset, his universe is built little by little, with the passing of sound transformations and the light and poetic transportation of it all.

a dear friend bringing something magical to these early-morning dances, from the valleys of southern France to western Portugal around a certain lake.

"Did you ever hear of solfeggio frequencies? They use specific sound patterns to help stimulate, exposing your brainwaves to a range of beneficial frequencies. From there, these vibrations travel through the body, promoting circulation, energy flow, and rejuvenation. Even though those frequencies are not necessarily primary in those 3 hours the destiny is. 

Having worked those outstanding productions in many different combinations over the years, it took a long time to finally share them together in an open air setting. 

I'm still getting excited from the shared memories of vibrating in a beautiful valley of the Provence on the power of klape nunsen's soundsystem, all formed by a beautiful connection of life. Waking up in misty clouds riding to a rising sun, subculture is strong and alive!"

nunsen·live - rea at La Vallée Electrique

We are delighted to present the second episode of our Live Recording series. This time, we team up with Barcelona's Mostra Festival to share the beautiful DJ set of Lou Drago, who played their irresistible scapes during a Thursday afternoon at Hangar.

Lou Drago is the host of t r a n s i e n c e, a monthly show on Cashmere Radio in Berlin, which aims to offer anxiety relief to its listeners. Together with marum, they host sonic seances under the name infinity rug.

They believe in the transformative potential of sound and the importance of deep listening, whether that means listening to each other, our needs, or the sounds around us. In their sets, they often explore the sonic landscapes of the in-between, where the listener's perspective dictates the experience, yet holds them in a warm embrace to invite a deep dialogue with the listening body-mind.

As the autumn season gently unfurls, bringing cooler days and longer nights, we often find ourselves drawn indoors, where the world slows down just a bit. This time of year invites moments of introspection and the soothing balm of stress relief, creating the perfect opportunity to immerse ourselves in calming and tranquil sounds. 

Unrush is pleased to welcome Low Velocity Soundsystem from Leipzig & Halle to this journey. Since debuting in 2018 as part of the event series “Time To Get Lost” in Halle, LVS has cultivated a space beyond the dance floor, inspired by the legendary 90s chill-out rooms. Gregor and John have created a musical environment where ambient textures converge with trip-hop, drone, techno, and dub, revealing a deep appreciation for atmosphere and mood.

Gregor is part of the team at Connwax, which hosts a long-standing label night at Leipzig’s IfZ, while John hosts the Folding Realities radio show on Callshop Radio, also working as a live-act and producer. Both bring their unique personalities to the track selection, blending their expansive music collections with a genuine and passionate spirit.

This set reflects their vibe—a unique blend of ambient-dub, drawing subtle connections to the club scene, and tinged with a delicate hint of melancholy. Without much discussion beforehand, they found themselves aligned, crafting a curation that speaks to the introspective side of the season. So sit back, breathe deeply, and let the sounds guide you through a moment of calm...

"The landscape of a frozen lake. A sheet of ice slowly shifting as it cracks unpredictably at sunrise. Ice floes mirror the accumulated snow on the fir trees. I circle the lake at a relaxed pace, my pauses blending into the soft, powdery drifts. It's the paceful beginnings of a beautiful day, and the music in the background only hightens the experience."

Aspetuck (@aspetuck) is a Vermont-raised electronic music producer based in the Hudson Valley. His sound merges analog and digital processing, drawing from ambient, techno, IDM, dub, and kraut. Using modular synthesis, he crafts intricate percussive sequences and melodies. He shares his work through DJing, live performances, and radio shows on The Lot Radio. Co-founder of Never Late (@never-late) with Gilles and Hue from Delayed, Aspetuck has built a diverse catalog, including self-released albums and records on labels like Oslated and Wex Recordings. His Mind Wandering EP (Telomere, 2022) and albums Early Color and Inanimate Distraction Object (2022, 2023) highlight his evolving sound. In 2025, he returns to Oslated for Today Is Tomorrow and has upcoming vinyl releases with A Strangely Isolated Place, with more projects on the way.

Kizen records (@kizenrecords) founder Romi (@romi808) has been across the techno scene for decades, developing a vision for music that spans genres and moods. Bringing it all together coherently with a focus on deep, hypnotic sounds, he expresses this vision through Kizen's consistently high-quality output.

INSIJAM – meaning harmony in Arabic – places the essence of chance and encounter at its core. Blending Musique Concrète with traditional Arabic sounds, the performance moves fluidly between experimental, avant-garde, and improvised jazz. 

Curated by Rami Abi Rafi (@ramiabirafi), INSIJAM is a monthly show broadcast on Cashmere Radio, based in Wedding, Berlin. For this edition, Rami invites Romi as a guest artist.

The next Deep Mind Music comes from one of my dearest friends, and greatest inspirations - hems

hems and I have a special connection, we both love to adventure through musical lands strange and beguiling, evocative and unusual, and have spent many hours together digging through obscure backcatalogs or making our own noises experimenting with hems’ many synthesisers in his studio in London 🧡

hems plays music like no one else I know, he has a magic touch and deep sensitivity for representing all shades of human existence. From the sublime to the transcendent, the unsettling to the hilarious, hems’ sets takes listeners to the beyond and then further still.

I first invited hems to make a mix many years ago, so I am very happy to finally welcome an entry from him. This recording is the first 2.5 hours of an all-night 8 hour set hems played at an intimate private gathering in Mexico City in March of this year.

In this recording hems coaxes us to drift inwards, to enter into an unusual landscape, to open up to all the elements of sound, contrasting pre-Hispanic music with vintage synthesizer tracks and much more.  

Listening to hems’ sets over the years has expanded my mind towards new possibilities, his selections and genius touch for programming evoking many deep epiphanies and insights. This mix is brimming with vitality and life, I hope you enjoy this kaleidoscopic voyage into the mystical 🌿 ~

Alongside DJing, hems produces very deep and intricate experimental electronic music I highly recommend checking out, often utilitising spatial audio systems or even playing gongs live, and he also runs the amazing Titrate records with @o-utlier, as well as his own mix series @hardcore-chillout with @EightFoldWay

Multicast Dynamics aka Samuel van Dijk delivered this much expected mix to us in the beginning of Spring. This mix took us a long time to listen repeatedly, from the moment it starts to the end, we were deeply indulged in the dreamlike whirls. Such feeling lingers apart from the change of the surrounding, it even strengthens with intense stimulation. His music is rich with levels of creativity, and there are also entrances and exits; it doesn’t lose itself because the change of the environment. Eric grew up in southwest Florida in a very musical Baptist family. At an early age he discovered skateboarding, and this became his foundation and community for music, art and fashion. One thing led to another, and after playing various instruments in different bands in his early 20's he found himself tending bar at a club in London. It was there that he discovered contemporaries that allowed him to expand his ideas of music from acoustic to electronic.

Now in Brooklyn, he feels like he his surrounded by more talented people than ever before. He and his high-school buddy John Petro play together in a electronic-based project called Mariner.  He is inspired by people, ideas and endeavors that traverse the spectrum - those that cross through genre and subvert expectation.
