The experience took place virtually on August 20th ~ 23rd 2021 worldwide from the radio platform 9128.live.

Barefoot is based in South West England and has had recent releases on Kizen Records and re:st. His next project, a collaboration EP with The Vision Reels, is set to be released on their new imprint, Captured Visions. His 9128 mix is a journey through ambient and lo-fi styles, featuring unreleased music from himself and other artists in this community.

This August, it has been two years since launching the first iteration of the 9128.live 24/7 streaming site + app. 

We didn’t know back then, that the additional live weekend takeovers would be such an escape for us all during the lockdowns and a way to connect, keep a small community together and discover even more new music. But they ended up becoming some of our fondest memories over the past two years. So we’ll be celebrating this milestone with another marathon takeover on August 20th. 

Stay locked in on web, or app, and load up on sleep; the weekend lineup will take us back-to-back over 70hrs, with ambient, experimental, synth and deep techno, DJ, Live and Hybrid sets, curated by good friends and label partners of 9128.live, who have been with us since the beginning.

From a distance, far away in a remote place, our brain is perceiving a well-done prearranged set of harmonious proportions adding accurate structures and harmonies to the sound. Those pleasant and coherent modular scales are perfectly complemented by a well-used long and constant s sound known as tape hiss. Gritty noises, subtle percussions and low end frequencies exposed within the correct space-time, make the sound distance closer and closer.

His productions are 4x4 experiments of low tempo with field recordings and marked spaces, where he explores timbres, textures and cinematographic
structures. He is resident at the Alpenglühen and Taiga sessions and owner of the label Antimatter together with Bule.
He is also the owner of Alpenglühen (the label) focused in deep and ambient techno which explores the thin line between light and darkness.

심오하고 긴 믹싱을 가진 그의 진보적인 세션은 실험음악, 앰비언트 그리고 수평적이고 Dub 한 테크노 사이를 항해한다.
그의 작품은 4x4 의 낮은 템포를 가지는 실험으로, 현장 녹음과 그가 음색과 질감 그리고 시네마토그래픽을 탐구하는 공간들에서 이루어진다.

Oslated presents CALMA - 4th. Mix by F-on

Guy Hobsbawm, the new alias of Gunnar Haslam, offers Mysteries a debut LP that is perfectly tailored to the times. Communes Qui Poussent Comme Des Champignons Après Le Déluge, which literally translates to ‘communes that grew like mushrooms after the flood’, is sparse and cinematic: an ideal score to any dystopian film. Except “dystopia” denotes an imaginary or speculative scenario, and what Hobsbawm has created is a natural reaction to the current global crisis as it relates to the past. In his own words, the title “pictures the flood of hunger, economic depression, and wide-scale political instability that was the background of 1848, draws links to the coming flood of 2020, and (tries to) imagine a brighter future of communes growing like mushrooms.”

The conceptual framework of 1848 and the ideologies of Louis-Auguste Blanqui, serves to mold the sonic landscape. In these pieces, there’s a focus on absence rather than presence. Sparse, long-form arrangements, like “Blanquistes du Nil” and the cricket-laden “Exil au Serir” seem to conjure a world in which the earth has supplanted man, or moved on without him. Many of these tracks make use of natural instrumentation and field recordings taken by Hobsbawm in North Africa and Mexico, to haunting effect. The lapping water and creaking wood in “Palermo, June 1848” suggest the residue of a flood, thereby linking the sonic to the conceptual. The final track, “Fustat,” which builds tension through metallic clangs and a Japanese sho, is an homage to Iannis Xenakis, the pioneering Greek-French composer. Guy Hobsbawm has taken the strange predicament of our global climate and created a cohesive album that represents the despair of the present — while connecting it to the past. The result is a landscape that is both foreign and familiar: a sonic paradox that represents the recurrence of a dark history. And yet within this, there is a glimmer of hope for a different future.

Mysteries of the Deep is a New York-based record label, podcast, and event series — focused on ambient & experimental music in various forms.
