The music, sounds, and vibrations encapsulated in this 160 minute DJ mix performed by .THE JASS. at ENTER. on July 4th 2013 in Space Club are not usually heard on the summer island paradise of Ibiza.  .THE JASS. played a total of 5 hours in the cave-like MIND room:  thick smoke, throbbing strobe lights, and metallic mesh stalactites created the dark dwelling for deep musical experiments in lower BPM ranges, heavy atmospheres, and hypnotic grooves - those who ventured within the MIND room were pulled into a black hole in the middle of ENTER.Experience.

Special thanks to Richie Hawtin for the opportunity to DJ at ENTER. It was an honor to be cloaked in the ENTER.MIND room. Additionally, many thanks to Anduin, Lesley Flanigan, and Tristan Perich for providing me exclusive unreleased songs to DJ for this event - their sounds along with 89 other tracks are captured throughout this two hour and forty minute set.

Con/Sub/Un: is meant to achieve an altered state of consciousness in which each listener can find them-self within the mix. denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance are themes of the fourth .thejass. mix: “fear forges feedback”, an 80 minute set of 57 tracks forged to cure the fear of loss with heavy doses of sonic feedback, and prescribed to listeners deprived by death. The diagnosed audio side effects are fragmentary breaths of electric guitars, pupils enlarge from blackened soundscapes, the jaw is opened through distressed vocals, limbs become rigid in uncirculated noise, fingers curl into a doom metal claw, and finally, a static stare towards mysterious cinematic tones conclude the aftermath of loss.

Eric grew up in southwest Florida in a very musical Baptist family. At an early age he discovered skateboarding, and this became his foundation and community for music, art and fashion. One thing led to another, and after playing various instruments in different bands in his early 20's he found himself tending bar at a club in London. It was there that he discovered contemporaries that allowed him to expand his ideas of music from acoustic to electronic.

Now in Brooklyn, he feels like he his surrounded by more talented people than ever before. He and his high-school buddy John Petro play together in a electronic-based project called Mariner.  He is inspired by people, ideas and endeavors that traverse the spectrum - those that cross through genre and subvert expectation.

“Descent To Collapse Depth” is like sinking to the ocean bottom with no chance of coming back up for air - the set drowns the last rays of sunlight with 38 weighted tracks of dark ambient, experimental, electronic, and drone sounds mixed into 80 plunging minutes. While the falling temperatures of submerged drum beats slowly consume the last pockets of warm oxygen, the crushing depth of pressure will have the skeletal remains of each listener embedded into the seabed where the domain of eternal silence, complete blackness, and tranquility add to the mysteries of the deep.

Mysteries of the Deep is a New York-based record label, podcast, and event series — focused on ambient & experimental music in various forms. Mysteries — as fans lovingly call it — is concerned with exploration of unknown realms, and its focus, in addition to showcasing a dynamic spectrum of electronic music from foremost artists in the field, is to thoughtfully engage its audience. 

Conceptualized in 2011, Mysteries began as a podcast series that, now in its eleventh year, has hosted an array of mixes and original works. The project has since evolved, expanding into a curated global event series and record label.
