It is a reflection on memory, mourning, and the fact that at a certain age, the dead outnumber the living in the traveler's mind.

Adelma est l'une des villes décrites par Marco Polo à l'empereur Kublai Khan dans le livre Les Villes invisibles d'Italo Calvino. Adelma est classée dans la série thématique des Villes et la Mémoire. Elle est une réflexion sur le fait qu'à un certain âge, les morts sont plus nombreux dans l'esprit du voyageur que les vivants.
