Sustain Series, Vol. 2 - Mixed by Lauge

In times of turmoil, of upheaval, of uncertainty, we turn towards enclaves of solitude. They ground us, give space, give hope, give us a base from which we can head back into a world that claws at every misstep. Each of our personal enclaves create a layer of comfort that will guard against the unknown challenges of the next day. For a lucky few, that enclave is built around a natural element.The whispering of a breeze through the twigs of a tree, or the crunch of undergrowth as paths unfold in front. Lessening the distractions of a modern age and choosing those that will define your time spent. 

Today we feel lucky to premiere again an artist that we’ve been following for a while. One that encapsulates the above through both his own sound and that of Huinali Recordings. Owl has crafted a poignant take on both beat, and beatless varieties of music. Providing a safe, yet welcoming space of solitude. One that begs for nothing, other than your attention. Dark Night Skies embodies a walk across a shore, a clearing, plus that much more.

Dark Night Skies and in turn, Forest Shadow will be the 14th release on Huinali Recordings

Metalheadz Platinum is back with a debut from drum n bass finest newcomer Xtrah with tracks ‘No Good’ and ‘Directive’ alongside Headz crew member and co-conspirator Mikal.

"Directive" is very much a clash between Mikal and Xtrah, it’s a bass workout that you would expect from the pair. The stepping drums are accented by drum and percussion fills adding to the uncompromising nature of the track, basses snake and contort around the drums encouraging one to screwface whilst eerie FX and strings add an element of mystery to proceedings.

Dryft has always been a way for Mike Cadoo to experiment within the sonic terrain of electronic music.  Having started Dryft in 1999 as a side project from his then full-time gig as frontman of post-industrial amalgamate Gridlock to explore and produce re-imagined forms of Darkstep. he subsequently released the critically acclaimed album Cell. Cadoo rather fluidly arced the project into Clip-Hop territory and released the Mytotic Exyt EP (Component). After an eight year hiatus Dryft reappeared in 2012 with the Ventricle full-length (n5MD). On Ventricle Cadoo merged previous experiments in bass music with post-industrial, dirge-paced 2-step and nugaze. One, by now, could surmise that different types of bass music have been the backbone of Cadoo's work as Dryft. The new album, The Blur Vent, finds Cadoo yet again adding new textures and styles to Dryft's phonic scuffle. Beginning where its predecessor left us hanging, The album quickly launches us into some mutant after party where Drag, Future Garage, Drone and even R&B elements have been defaced to fit Cadoo's skewed vision of Dryft in 2014.

The summer solstice of 2025 becomes not only an astronomical event, but a planetary-scale sonic ritual — a nine-track tribute to light, motion, and the eternal cycle of time.

i picked up my acoustic guitar, something I haven't done in awhile, and the chords just fell out. I put down a scratch track right way... played with some basslines and came back later to rerecord the guitar part and one thing led to another... some bells, some shortwave interference and some live drum sampling came together.
