ColonelJ a.k.a. Jurgen Kuhnel co-founded Mo-Fi Tuesday, who had some notable success in the electronic dance music scene in Cape Town in the late nineties. After two years of stage experience with live electronica, he proceeded to specialize in sound engineering an composing music for mobile technology. In 2007 He released an acoustic pop-album, "This Life" which he co-wrote, recorded & produced with the Venessa Nolan. This was signed to Universal South Africa and distributed by Musketeer records.   Jurgen has built a number of home studio's and is a self proclaimed acoustician with extensive knowledge on acoustics and construction.

In 1997, after countless jam session we finally decided to start playing live gigs. We got together once a week (on Tuesdays) to practice . After a jam session, we would drive around listening to the recording on cassette. My girlfriend at the time had a car stereo branded "Mo-Fi", which seemed an appropriate name for our band. We played several gigs in and around Cape Town between 1997-1998. We´ll be sharing some of our first mixes, new mixes of old tracks and (da da dum) new material, right here..enjoy!

South African electronica pioneers, Jurgen Kuhnel and Carl Albrecht have a long history of collaboration, dating back to 1997, the year they founded the group Mo-Fi Tuesday in Cape Town. At a time when laptop muscians and DAWs were a thing of the future, Mo-Fi dragged their desktop PCs and CRT monitors to the club to present their own unique brand of electronic dance music to live audiences. Years later and after parting ways in 2000, their respective solo projects Fremen Production and ColonelJ have regrouped as FPXCJ. Still heavily influenced by IDM's formative years, yet obsessively involved with the technological advancements made since then, FPXCJ are focussed on reviving the optimism of 90's electronica and infusing it with their vision of the future.

Desert Planet Recordings was founded in 2009 by South African born Carl Fremen, with the purpose of releasing Fremen Production, C-Fremen, USUL and related collaborative works. Not conforming to a single genre, releases range between IDM, Downtempo and Drum ´n Bass projects. Among the first releases were "Detach", an 11 track LP of IDM works by Fremen Production, followed by a range of Drum ´n Bass singles, often collaborative, released under the C-Fremen alias. Recent releases include an IDM collaboration titled FPXCJ and new music by USUL.
