Nadia Struiwigh is a producer, live artist, DJ and resident of Tresor.  Her music spans ambient, electro and techno and has been featured on labels like Nous’klaer Audio, Dekmantel and Central Processing Unit. In 2024 she founded the label Distorted Waves focussing on hardware-centered, more experimental works. Her DJ sets explore driving and psychedelic techno, while also delving into deeper sounds, while her live sets are known for their unique sonic improvisation.

After the pandemic, I felt a bit unmoored. Spending time in Australia distanced me from the European scene, and I found myself feeling quite lost. Once I returned, I initially focused on Techno, but soon realized my true foundation has always been experimental music and narrative-driven performances—whether in my own productions, live sets, or DJ sets. I’m grateful to have rediscovered my creative center, and I’m excited to share this next chapter. I’m fully back, with more jungle and ambient experimental releases on the way! For this edition, Dutch producer and sonic explorer Nadia Struiwigh delivers an envelope-pushing session, weaving through acidity, hardcore sonics, and introspective rhythms. Her hour-long set unfolds with resolute strength, weaving amens and mentasms into a hallucinatory rave world.
Observatory resident Fran Domingo takes over for the second hour, navigating a refined path through deep, propulsive broken beats, and into the cross-point of techno and dubstep.

Observatory 106 – Sungate [with Nadia Struiwigh & Hakk]

In 2024, Dutch artist and producer Nadia Struiwigh founded Distorted Waves, a label devoted to releasing music untethered from the usual listening environments -not solely built for the club or the concert hall, but also for all spaces beyond.

Following her first two releases, OXI 5 and Trees, Struiwigh now curates Distorted Waves VA 01. It’s the label’s first various artists compilation and its most collaborative project to date.

A core part of the label’s identity is a deep focus on the technological aspects of music creation. Each release on Distorted Waves explores a specific piece of gear or a particular tool. For this project, that tool was one that Nadia created herself: a custom Sci Fi Ambient sample pack.
Nadia extended an invitation to a circle of 10 artists she’s connected with creatively and personally. Each was given the same starting point: a bespoke ambient sample pack crafted by Nadia. But instead of prescribing direction, the pack served as a catalyst for play -encouraging open-ended exploration without genre constraints.

What emerged is a wide-ranging collection of tracks that bends through power ambient, experimental contours, dubstep pressure, and more atmospheric oscillations. Each track was shaped from the same sonic source, yet arriving somewhere entirely distinct.

“These sounds traveled through many minds, many contexts,” says Nadia. “It’s a kind of group storytelling, one set of frequencies reshaped into many perspectives.”

Rather than chase coherence, Distorted Waves VA 01 leans into divergence unified by source. This is one for the heads.

After three years as a resident, the club has challenged me, shaped me, and given me the freedom to explore the full spectrum of my sound, even after many years in the scene. This recording channels the intensity of my recent releases (Blueprint – X1 SHIFT and The Third Room – Wind Whisper) and captures the side of me that lives and breathes techno.
