Came from an Andrew 'Grinny' Reader bass line....Steve found it difficult to write to..Jim Beam done some stuff on it which we had to chop up..Bob had a pod effects unit.....It was shiny...We scrapped all guitar parts and Bob worked his magic...Russ mixed it..I had house fires to deal with....I liked it..Our record company hated it....Not goth enough...I had moved on from that...

Slaughter Of The Black Sun

This song began with the idea of chaos incarnate in music, and was inspired (oddly enough) by the band Meshuggah; their offbeat, inconsistent rhythms, unconventional use of instruments etc. Well, this one was difficult from day one, for obvious reasons. When the very nature of a song is chaotic, it's not easy to structure it into something that makes sense. In fact, this is the second version I've posted here; the earlier one had weaker vocals and just sounded incomplete.

I did this back in 2011 to close my DISTRIKT set at Burning Man with just as the sun dipped down over the desert mountains. Whilst it may not sound like it, a *lot* of studio work went into rebuilding this track - I wanted to keep it's beautiful flow and organic looseness, but bolster it with extra beef and bass. 3 days later, I got there with it.
