One bizarre thing about modern US presidential races is watching politicians in one of the most dystopian civilizations ever to exist warning people that the other candidate wants to lead them into a dark dystopia, which depending on the party they label "communism" or "fascism".

Politicians In Dystopialand Warn Other Candidate Will Cause Dystopia

30 Doradus is one of the largest and brightest regions of star formation close to the Milky Way. 

This sonification combines X-rays from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory with infrared data from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). X-rays from Chandra, which reveal gas that has been superheated by shock waves generated by the winds from massive stars, are heard as airy synthesizer sounds. 

Meanwhile, JWST’s infrared data show cooler gas that provides the raw ingredients for future stars.

Dubbed out, monastic chants atop the holy mountain with Holy Tongue.

Mount Athos, known as the “Holy Mountain,” is a monastic peninsula in northeastern Greece that has been central to Eastern Orthodox monasticism for over a thousand years. Home to around 2,000 monks, its monasteries resonate with the timeless a cappella chants that form an integral part of their prayer and worship, creating a serene atmosphere for contemplation. FLEE’s Athos: Echoes from the Holy Mountain is a project that documents and reinterprets this musical tradition, blending field recordings from the 1960s and today with modern compositions from contemporary Greek and international artists. Accompanying the music is a trilingual book featuring essays, photography, and artistic reflections, drawing contributions from scholars, monks, and artists. This release, which includes a 2xLP, digital album, and 308-page book, is a culmination of FLEE’s extensive research on Mount Athos and will be followed by exhibitions and conferences showcasing its findings.

This live set is a culmination of years spent designing and building a custom modular synth system, blending together various hardware jams into an immersive, organic experience. 
Each track is a raw, unaltered recording of modular patches, capturing the spontaneous nature of live performance. Occasionally, drum-machine elements are layered in, all routed through a 24-channel API analog summing mixer that I've soldered together by hand, ensuring an entirely analog (and very personal) signal path for most of the set.

While a few tracks were produced using a DAW, their foundation remains rooted in recordings from my modular setup, maintaining the same tactile and hands-on approach. The entire set is mixed using Traktor 4, taking advantage of its incredible stem separation feature, which allows me to deconstruct stereo tracks into multi-track mixes, turning a traditional DJ set into something more akin to a live studio session. Every sound is given room to breathe, creating an evolving soundscape that’s both spontaneous and meticulously crafted.

Mastering was also done in-house, ensuring that every detail of this set is true to the vision I had when performing it live. This is more than just a mix; it’s an exploration of sound through the systems I’ve built, designed to push boundaries and redefine what a live electronic performance can be.
