Since no one agrees on the date of the festivities dedicated to Mokosh (but also the Slavs weren't even writing on hard materials when Romans already had aqueducts), let’s take advantage of the autumn equinox — the start of the harvest — to pay tribute to the Slavic goddess of femininity and fertility. Мóкошь, one of the most important entities in the pantheon, is descended from Mati Syra Zemlya, literally "Mother Wetland.” When taming her, the Slavs nicknamed her Mokosh, or "moisture.” 

On good days, she is a very beneficent goddess, protector of women, their work and their destiny. She is associated with weaving and spinning: a bit like the Greek Fates, she weaves destinies. She also presides over herbalism, medicine, divination and spells. Mokosh is called upon for safe childbirth (pretty useful at a time when there was no epidural), but also for luck and success in general. She is goodness and morality, but as everything is not black or white in Slavic mythology, she also has a dark side, severe and matronly.

So what do we do to pay tribute to Mokosh on this autumnal equinox? Make a hole in the ground (a clay pot will do) and put seeds, breadcrumbs or berries in it. It also works with wool, or a distaff if you're really motivated. Make a promise to yourself that you’ll keep during this new cycle, and the goddess will help you when you have doubts.

Après sa conversation avec Tony, Anis Rhali voudrait nuancer le portrait sévère qu’il a fait de l’éducation nationale à la française.  Il continue de penser que son année de 4ᵉ a peut-être changé sa vie en positif. Pour avoir un autre son de cloche, il se rend chez un camarade qu'il a complètement perdu de vue : Mohamed, aujourd'hui jeune patron d'un restaurant dans la ville d'Aubervilliers. Là encore, le constat n’est pas glorieux et le problème ne se limite pas à l’école.  Mohamed se confie, revisite les souvenirs en commun et raconte comment il a pu s’épanouir à l'étranger et surmonter  le mal-être qu'il a malgré lui développé en France. Anis découvre un parcours à l'opposé du sien.

L'école c'est de la merde
Les années scolaires sont denses, on se souvient d’autant de choses qu'on en oublie. Il est donc difficile de rendre palpable l’impact qu’a eu l’école sur un être humain. Pourtant, c'est ce qu’Anis a décidé de faire. Le banlieusard qui a grandi dans le 93 n’a pas un bon souvenir de l’école. Il a l’impression qu’il est devenu qui il est grâce à lui et personne d’autre. Aujourd’hui créateur de contenus sur YouTube et scénariste, il doit admettre que son année de 4ᵉ dans laquelle sa classe a pu écrire, réaliser et jouer dans un court-métrage a peut-être eu une influence sur lui. Il va donc rencontrer ses anciens camarades, mais aussi la prof à l’origine de ce projet pour comprendre. Y a-t-il un lien entre cet événement et sa vie d’aujourd’hui ? L’école est-elle si perfectible que ça ? Et si oui à quel endroit ? Que ce soit le témoignage de Tony, le rappeur informaticien, celui de Mohamed, le banlieusard globe-trotter ou encore Madame Guguen, l’enseignante qui mettait des 18/20 facilement, chaque avis va nous permettre de nous questionner sur l’un des principes fondamentaux de notre société : l’éducation.

Anis Rhali
Anis est un scénariste, réalisateur et comédien autodidacte. Le banlieusard a fait ses preuves sur internet en exploitant tout ce qu’il pouvait. Court-métrage sur YouTube, expériences sociales ou encore émission de radio. Pour Anis, faire du contenu populaire qui a du sens et du fond, c’est possible. C’est ce qu’il tente de démontrer à travers ses créations.

L'école c'est de la merde (2/3)

The structure of Malakosha is based on a repetitive textile weave which, on each repetition, is proportionally augmented until it is 24 measures long. Melodic patterns and change within these patterns also follow the structure of the weaving pattern. The work takes its title from the pentatonic Indian raga on which the harmony and tonal range of the music is based. Each section expands by adding more notes to the repetitive melodic patterns. Over the course of the work the role of the "noisy patterns" develops: initially they are in the background and then gradually become part of a louder soundscape with the live instruments.
