Great collaboration Nat and Dirk! Lovely song! Nat, what a great voice you have!!!

The arrangement reminds me a lot of Iris from Goo Goo Dolls, one of my favourites. And it works sooo well here!

How had I missed this one for so long. I checked to see if I had heard on Dirk's cloud, but to be totally honest I would have remembered this unique song. Such a great arrangement, especially love your piano which chimes so perfectly with your rich warm vocals. Great work by everyone involved. Thanks for sharing Nat.

This is a song that started off as something else entirely different. Originally, it was a noodle that I recorded using a delay pedal. I gave it to Chris Maness, who put a killer bass lines on in. so, I went back and completely reimagined it as an actual song. I thought it sounded kinda swampy, so I thought of the most musical thing I could think of about a swamp. I remember the swarms of gnats that would form different patterns when I'd sing different vibrations at them. Hence, Dance of the Gnats.

Going Down

Seagull was kind enough to share a childhood memory with me of fishing boats with old spark plug engines, the scent of the sea, the sound of gulls looking for a meal, all of which he had put into a lovely musical portrait.  It is a different world compared to the childhood I had growing up in suburban Denver, Colorado.  Now with us both in our later years we get to meet on this wonderful platform called Soundcloud, and I asked if I could tag along with him as he shared this lovely memory. From our 2017 debut album which will be released properly one day soon. This song is the story of making a rough time all better again, but then there is the matter of John, and who is he in the song? I thought it was most obvious when I wrote it and that everyone would get the reference, but so far no-one has mentioned the connection or had an "aha!" moment. Perhaps one of you will. ;-)
