There is also much written about this ancient mantra from the Rig Veda, and the first line (which is considered to be an invocation rather than part of the mantra).  I show one of the simpler interpretations following the lyrics.

This composition has two melodic parts.  After a couple of passes through the typical call-response-call-response for each melody, the chant then goes to one pass through each melody, with Gina Salá and I singing each part together, which would be the equivalent of shifting to everyone singing together rather than singing call and response in a live kirtan.  

Note that the mantra does not traditionally close with 'Om" but doing so in this composition creates a powerful 'pause' between each iteration.

The track opens with a cello intro by Eddie Young, and features Gina Salá joining me for call and response vocals.  Gina also sings some exquisite improvisational vocals, which are the focal point of the conclusion of the track (and the entire album).  In addition to Eddie Young on cello, it also instrumentally features Ben Leinbach on bass guitar and drums, and Natesh on guitar, drums and hand percussion.

  Tat Savitur Varenyam*
    Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi
      Dhiyo Yonaha Prachodayaat  OM

* pronounced like 'Vareniyam'

Meaning:

O Supreme One, who pervades all matter, space and consciousness,
Whose Radiance illumines Existence, deserving all worship,
Pure and resplendent, we meditate upon you.
Lead our Intellect (towards Illumination).

Natesh has been chanting in the kirtan tradition for over 40 years, first connecting with this transformational spiritual practice in 1979.  He has led regular kirtan in Sedona, AZ, since 2004 and has led kirtan at BhaktiFest, ShaktiFest and other festivals. He's composed over 200 chants since 2004 and his chants have been called “some of the most beautiful melodies I’ve heard" and his singing "deeply soulful." His Bliss of Kirtan album has evoked comments like "stunningly beautiful for the ear and for the soul" and "a lovely and profound offering."

In 2016, Natesh became deeply connected with Brahmarishi Mohanji (www.mohanji.org) and has composed a number of chants dedicated to Mohanji, some of which are here on Soundcloud.
