The words to this chant were composed by Devadas AC, of Palakkad, Kerala (India). Though he later expanded it to multiple verses, I created this composition at Mohanji's request when only this one verse existed.

This is an "Ode to Lord Dattatreya" written by Mohanji, and it means "Everything is Datta" (Dattatreya). One morning in Palakkad, Mohanji informed me that he was going to "write something for Datta" and would like me to compose the music.  Then he handed me the words all printed out in what seemed like 5 minutes later.  The words all refer to different aspects of existence (e.g., time, land, Earth, Heaven) and declare that they are all "Datta".

Although a follower asked me if I would compose an original melody for the aarati shortly after I met Mohanji, it took a couple years and multiple requests before I felt ready to take on such a daunting task.  Aarati is a traditional form of expressing devotion.

Om Shri Shivaya

Om!  I created this track as a 'soundtrack' for a 20-minute meditation.  It features my chanting of the mantra 'Om' with some random overlapping and a variety of effects, all over a backdrop of the sound of ocean waves and a tamboura drone that's been 'fattened up' with some droning synth pads.  I find the end result to be very transcendental and I hope you do, too.  Of course it also works beautifully as a backdrop for yoga nidra and shavasana in general!  I do recommend listening through headphones whenever possible. I composed this chant to Shirdi Sai Baba at the direction of Brahmarishi Mohanji in Chennai in December, 2016.  He gave me the words to use, starting with the mantra that was the favorite of Ganeshananda Giri Baba, and asked me to be prepared to chant it at a special book release function for Ganeshananda, who had taken samadhi earlier in 2016.  He had been the last remaining direct disciple of Shirdi Sai.  We ended up chanting it the next day, and the day before the special function, at his mahasamadhi shrine, in Sriperumbudur (near Chennai).  As we were chanting, a group of cows came up as close to us as they could, separated by a ditch, and seemed to have been drawn by the chanting.  As soon as we stopped, they left single file back to the area where they had been grazing.  This short recording comes from a video of a rather spontaneous kirtan we did at the end of a public satsang with Mohanji during the retreat with him in Sedona in March, after he had given shaktipat to all present.  It's just me chanting with my guitar and the group responding (and someone chanting noticeably out of tune), but I wanted to make the chant available for people to hear.  Om Sai Ram!

The words are a mantra that invokes Mohanji's Grace and Blessing: Om Shree Bhagavan Shree Brahmarishi Mohanji Namaha Om.  There are 54 repetitions of the mantra (at a constant tempo of 108 beats per minute ).  

The track begins with Mohanji's beautiful, deep, resonant voice powerfully chanting three Oms, which is followed by some lovely esraj playing by Monnie Ramsell and then the main mantra chanting begins.

He Mere Mohanji - Album Mix

May all the beings in all the worlds be happy!  This is the simple translation of this chant ancient mantra that sends blessings out into the Universe, though some people say ". . . be happy and free".

The music itself is simply me chanting the words and playing guitar, with an electronic drone I had playing when I recorded it, and came from a YouTube video which is available at this link:  https://youtu.be/Lig4ODtKp2c.  I've done some simple editing to the audio from that video in order to make it a longer recording to chant with (about 16 minutes vs. less than 9 on the video, and thus the word "Extended" in the title).  Unlike my studio-recorded kirtan album and more recent self-produced Mohanji chants, there is no intricate production here:  simply my voice, guitar and the electronic drone.

Words to the chant:

Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu

Meaning:  This well-known mantra for blessing and affirmation means "May All Beings in All the Worlds Be Happy!"

Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu (Extended)

Natesh has been chanting in the kirtan tradition for over 40 years, first connecting with this transformational spiritual practice in 1979.  He has led regular kirtan in Sedona, AZ, since 2004 and has led kirtan at BhaktiFest, ShaktiFest and other festivals. He's composed over 200 chants since 2004 and his chants have been called “some of the most beautiful melodies I’ve heard" and his singing "deeply soulful." His Bliss of Kirtan album has evoked comments like "stunningly beautiful for the ear and for the soul" and "a lovely and profound offering."

In 2016, Natesh became deeply connected with Brahmarishi Mohanji (www.mohanji.org) and has composed a number of chants dedicated to Mohanji, some of which are here on Soundcloud.
