Food banks have become a symbol of modern poverty in Britain. In this programme, Nathan FitzPatrick investigates the reality of food banks, both for the people who are forced to rely on them, and for those who volunteer their time.

In interviews with representatives from charities working on the frontline of modern food poverty, Nathan asks where this national affliction has come from, and what can be done to solve it. He also talks to MP Frank Field, who is currently chairing an investigation into food poverty and hunger, about what role politicians need to play in supporting some of the most vulnerable people in society.
