I recorded this Man cover, written by Deke Leonard, at the end of sessions for my new album 'Til I Hear You Talkin'.
I had the pleasure of playing The Mickey Jones Annual Bash in 2011 at the request of George Jones, Mickey's son. I worked up this arrangement to play that night, as a tribute to Mickey.

This song’s about a bloke I know.  He tends to find life a bit difficult because he overly frets about stuff.  I mean, you and me might worry we’ll lose our loved-ones in some monstrous accident, but he’s the kind who’ll drive himself into towering anxiety about a remark he remembers making in 1973.  

So as a result, I suppose you’d say he’s something of a recluse, but will occasionally put in a surprise appearance, and invariably gets the very warmest of welcomes.  But although he does want to be, he’s not back.

Gordon has done such superb work on this song - he’s captured everything it is about and so much more.  Gal and me are incredibly lucky to be able to work with such a fine musician - he makes the process so pleasurable and so easy.

A bit "mainstream" for me but wanted to really try and challenge myself to go for a big vocal with lots of harmonies.
Had to drag myself away from getting distracted with all the fancy new iOS synths out there and get back to focusing on songwriting.
