Over the last ten years, Gumm graduated from being an active promoter hosting renegade parties in obscure public spaces to performing at Melbourne's biggest festivals, including Let Them Eat Cake, Pitch Music & Arts and smalltown. As co-founder of Melbourne brand Darklove, he hosted international acts The Drifter and Damon Jee to go with regular bookings supporting Maceo Plex, DJ Koze, Jennifer Cardini, Stephan Bodzin, Job Jobse, Ben Klock, ANNA, Folamour, Mind Against and more.

Not only is he regular in Melbourne clubs (Revolver Upstairs, Bourke Street Courtyard and Glamorama to name a few), but recent performances at Melbourne's leading festivals earmarked him as an act for the bigger stage. At the end of 2020, he tasted his first interstate booking when he was flown to Byron Bay to headline a 2021 NYE event.

His recent debut single "Struck", released on Berlin-based Ombra International, the in-vogue label run by indie-dance maestro Curses, served as a crucial entry point into the global scene. The single is a highly infectious dance cut designed to suck you into its dark disco inferno, catching the attention of the underground scene's leading players. With his recent sold-out headline show selling over 500 tickets, Gumm is well situated to be at the Melbourne forefront of a new, compelling global sound with roots in genres like nu-wave, indie-dance and nu-disco. 

About The edit : " Sassafras (aka. Josh my housemate) and I were returning from buying groceries and he asked what I thought about editing Kim Wilde - You Keep Me Hangin' On. We had spoken about writing some music together so it was a perfect chance to have a play. Sass' love for the original was contagious and I soon became attached myself. The process was incredibly enjoyable and the result is now one of my favourite projects."

This incredible song "Mon légionnaire", composed by Marguerite Angele Monnot and initially performed by Marie Dubas in 1936, was covered in 1987 by Serge Gainsbourg.

He then gave it a homoerotic meaning which is explicit in the associated video clip. Unmissable !

Panthera was the ideal candidate to cover this legendary piece and give it a real extra electronic force !

Thus, he gives the original title an incredible power that will make everyone on the dancefloor agree.

The original sounds are carried by a “KICK/BASS” set of undeniable effectiveness. And finally, his PADS and LEADS are still just as sumptuous.

“Ya La Torkia” is a ballad by Algerian Rai singer Cheb Amar. The singer narrates a story of love and enchantment dedicated to a woman named Torkia, accompanied by the rhythmic cadence of a bendir (a traditional North African drum). In this poetic journey, he seeks answers to the complexities of unrequited love. This edit serves as an ode to the original composition - a personal interpretation of Cheb Amar’s lyrical prowess.

In 2021, Italoconnection, the partnership of Fred Ventura and Paolo Gozetti, released Midnight Confessions Vol 1. Three years on, the awaited second volume has arrived. All of the analogue emotion that characterised the first collection is present from the outset, warm throbs of bass coupled with clean melodies in “The Wait”. Smoky lyrics permeate the nine track album, the unmistakable timbre of Ventura’s voice recanting tales of optimistic encounters and lost love. As with the 2021 release, collaborations with fellow italo romantics are peppered throughout. Francesca Gastaldi returns to work with Italoconnection once again. Having featured on their Humanize EP, Gastaldi’s vibrant voice shines through the smouldering synthlines and robust beats of “Live Forever”. Jaia Sowden takes centre stage for “Just Like Water”. A story of discontent and disconnect is sang over bittersweet keys as eastern undercurrents flow. Contemporary commentary is intertwined with undulating melodies and distant lyrics in “Cold War Lovers”, a cold wave edge cutting through the sounds and words of “Systematic”. The dancefloor surfaces throughout the record. Bodies are pulled tight by the bold and bright bars of “Why” before drifting apart in the lovelorn lamentations of “Lover 2 Lover”. “Europa” pays homage to the machine music of the continent as a litany of influences are drawn upon . The title piece closes. A fragile drum pattern is bolstered by cascading chords, piano notes sailing alongside words by Gastaldi and Ventura. Welcome confessions from musicians who live and breath the synthesizer traditions of Italy.

BIOGRAPHY: 

Nativo is a record label and event promoter specialized in dance music. Founded in 2020 by Roliva, Fausto and Prince Terrible, the label was born with the goal of creating a safe and equitable space for everyone involved in entertainment, in response to the inequalities prevalent in the music industry.

Since its creation, Nativo has established itself as a benchmark in the genre, releasing music by notables such as María Daniela y Su Sonido Lasser, TITÁN, Zombies in Miami and Mijo among others. The label has promoted a series of artistic residencies in recognized places in northern Mexico such as Mamba Room, Malinche Venue & Bar, Delorean and Speakeasy Mixology. In addition, it has had the honor of hosting internationally renowned DJs and producers, including Peter Invasion, Rigopolar, Álvaro Cabana, Martin Noise, Jason Peters, Roe Deers, Alejandro Molinari and Velax, as well as inviting national talents such as Theus Mago, Villaseñor, Luzius and Young Drums.

Currently, Nativo is focused on expanding its catalog of releases and its series of editions, working with its roster of artists and searching for new talent to promote in the electronic scene. The label remains committed to its mission of promoting an inclusive, high-quality environment in electronic dance music.
