John Barera (Allergy Season, Dolly, Sorry Records) joins the roster of Will Buck’s Off Track Recordings this September with his four-track ‘Message In The Air’ EP. New York based producer, DJ and Cross Street Music label boss John Barera has long been a highly acclaimed artist in the world of underground House and Techno. In 2022, he scored his first film as well, Marc17 in the House. His material has graced many taste making labels, while his DJ sets have taken him to hotspots like Panorama Bar, Fabric, Smart Bar, Razzmatazz, Floyd, Video Club, Tangent Gallery and many more. Here we see Barera, a prolific collaborator who drops solo albums as well, delivering his first solo ep in six years via the fledgling Off Track Recordings. On this record, Barera steps up with his trademark raw house, now infused with live instruments or even a vocal across four soul drenched house cuts.

To celebrate Kyma Komplex’s first anniversary, the new Mexican label serves up a superb ‘Varias Artistas’ compilation with music from new and old souls around the world. Across these fifteen tracks the label capturing the essence of what stands for.

Opener Miss Zagato draws her sirens into the vortex of stolen moments and pain written in poetry and paradox whit ‘Taciturn’. It's followed by Discosexo a Miami DJ, dancer & artist who's work reflects the mergence between music, dance and sex culture. Her offering, ’Tijeras’ is a theme that invokes sexy night drives, sweaty dance floors & a rhythm to strip by. Costa Rican’s ariad1000 is next with ‘Impulsiva’ a dreamy bedroom pop track, perfect soundtrack to go through this life with the intention of not stopping to have adventures and experiences. Ledi Cannit is an emerging producer and a DJ from Turkey who creates a vocal cosmic voyage whit ‘Discothèque en Bois’ fusing a broad range of genres like italo disco, new wave, and synth-wave. ‘Conjuro’ equally mesmerising ‘Programa’. Following the dreamy, exotic and minimal reverbed drums and phases of the unconscious. Bluecommand explores a mix of electro and jungle in 'Post Mutek' wanting to explote club sound a bit more.

Changing the semblance are Seli with ‘Beat Repeat’, a minimal techno cut. She is very passionate about make you go very deep but at the same time give you a little hope. Moozeic light some fire with ‘Uma Visão Indígena’ a mystical, astral melody across a dense nebulae of sound is born from the will to bring the true Brazilian ancestry to the world. Following up Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist anbu translates femine energy and sweet melancholy inspired by retro songs and all variations of “waves”s and takes a darker approach with ‘Phantoms in the Forest’. Inspired by indie rock and experimental music with an esthetic influenced by dark techno atmospheres, Ludmila Fuks prepares us for battle with ‘Blague’, a more aggressive cut with acid textures and distorted synths. The dark and heavy deep vibes continue on ‘Ácido Cítrico’ by SoBeryNice duo made up of Berenice Llorens and So Piuzzi.

The Chica’s ‘Quítame el Fuego’ to start closing, she combines many languages and expressions in her work. She defines herself as a sound artist, and her work find traits of theatricality, performance, experimentation, pop and techno music. Up next Glo My strips back 'Fenix' for a wild medley cut between UK garage, techno maintaining a rave vibe. Jessica Bellomo has been building up a dark, dirty and sinister cut ‘Convulsion’ a heavy kick, fleshy bass and highly impure synths. Melina Blanco roll out a paranoid techno piece ‘Tono’ is a six-minute heavy, moody, spiky track.
Last but never ever least Karola Blen dives into a sophisticated dark and elegant sounds with the heavyweight of ‘Nenufar’ you'll understand why she's been given the honor of closing this epic compilation.

The Marshlands EP is the first release from Crooked Finger (SZE Records, Secretsundaze Studios) on Natural Frequency Records.

The tracks are connected to and inspired by the artist’s trips to the North Essex coastline, the landscape and the marshlands of that area… “The marshes have this isolated and lonely beauty, they're kind of inaccessible but alluring and totally unlike the seaside beaches where the majority of people flock. All of this finds its way into these pieces of music.” 

“Goose” is a real burner, taking its time to build the intensity with dub chords, rapid snares and tape FX recorded via an old WEM Copicat, then the 303 brings us home. Inspired by long walks contemplating that feeling of pure power in nature.

Next up is “APR”, full of rust and dust, sounding like it was pulled from deep in the mud having washed up to shore years ago. 

“EightyEight” takes to the floor with a big ol bass line driving the track and drums that feel right at home clattering around a ‘95 warehouse at 5am. 

The closer of the EP, “Orange Wine”, is a moody house number with an arpeggiator ear-worm backed up by more big bass and that vocal sample that keeps going. This one connects the dots between the comforting isolation of the dance and the marsh. 

The ‘Marshlands EP‘ will be released on 16th March 2023 via Bandcamp & streaming.

One Eyed Jacks ceased activity in 2017 with a record by Photonz released under a different alias. It was the right time to let go: when the label started, in 2010, there were few electronic music labels in Portugal and a growing new wave of artists that needed to be documented and shown. Along the years, new labels - more capable ones - developed to cater to that need while projects like Rádio Quântica, co-founded by Photonz and Violet, seemed better instruments to carry on the vision of elevating and documenting a fledgling scene. But the itch for editorial expression was never gone and come 2023, One Eyed Jacks is back to life, animated by a renewed trust in the music and visions of how to apply its mysterious power to move, inspire and heal.

Lisbon-based Kara Konchar AKA Miguel Béco picks up on the original’s more emotive motifs and builds up a dense storm of heavy drums, unpredictable changes and texturally-rich variations on the melodies, bringing the drama levels way up.

buen clima is the solo project of producer, composer and DJ Felipe Castro (Santiago, 1993). Under that alias, he makes a sometimes clean, sometimes dirty mix of techno, house and electro, among other styles, with a soft spot for high BPMs, big, glossy pad sounds and interlocking rhythms. With a background in classical music and free improvisation, his productions and live performances often bring into them unexpected moments of noise, unusual influences and, above all, humour.

"This EP is comprised of five tracks written between 2020 and 2022, and it's got quite a bit of contrast among them, as well as some common threads. Some are gritty and noisy, some are a bit more amiable. However, they all show signs of recurring obsessions with certain rhythms, certain synth sounds, and share a sense of fun and humour. Each is an exploration of different production and synthesis techniques.

>:) Is a heavier club track, made to go a little evil, a little mischievous. It's full of squelchy sounds and has a drum part that sounds like a never ending Street Fighter combo, or a bunch of beer bottles being opened one after the other.

As he approached the booth at the forefront of the hall he began to tickle with excitement at the thought of it all. The lights, the people, the music, the past. It was time to breathe again…

Jun Kamoda has worked hard, releasing music which has since gone on to be supported and played by the likes of Ben UFO, Eclair Fifi and Tim Sweeney to name a few. His music is raw in places, capturing the true energy and origins of House music in a unique way. This latest EP is perhaps his most accomplished to date…
