Open Into Flame
 is a meditation, a prayer and a dance for personal and collective transformation. For the past month, I have been immersed in smoke from fires burning in the mountains to surrounding my home and from the hundreds of others burning nearby here in the Pacific Northwest of Canada/USA. The burning of entire towns, homes and livelihoods has moved me into tears and into deep reflection. What is our Earth Mother asking of us in this time? This music was chosen to tell the story of my own journey into this question. It's an invitation to open into your own flame and to support releasing, transforming and welcoming new beginnings. As Bība shares so eloquently in this mix, “It’s time for a change of skin. This shedding is underway. Snake shows us that this shedding is by fire. The skin burning away is a skin full of injustices, anger and violence. [The fire] is symbolic of moving away from the old ways and making way for the new. In these flames, our anger can now be seen, our shadow revealed by the glowing light. And in this fire now, it’s time to heal. At this time of great shedding, an energy channel is open- a line of light. This line of light is our lineage. Our path to awakening. This energy is open to all beings on earth to come into alignment with the unfolding mystery of our individual and collective evolution.”

@SteffenKirchhoff is German, but his music is very Latin American. It’s a downtempo sound with organic and spiritual elements. His compositions highlight shamanic drums, sacred songs, and sounds salvaged from nature. For more than a year, Steffen has remained quiet, only to be reborn in 2016 with greater depth in his live DJ set.

Steffan explores freedom and personal challenges from his nomadic lifestyle. He confides in his musical quest and in his intuition which have both led him to travel, meet, and share with many artists. Currently he works alongside shamans and guides who help support him through different therapeutic workshops and healing rituals.

Steffen kirchhoff es alemán pero su música lo hace latinoamericano. Un sonido downtempo con elementos orgánicos y espirituales. En sus composiciones resaltan tambores chamánicos, cantos sagrados y sonidos rescatados de la naturaleza. Durante más de un año se mantuvo en silencio, para renacer este 2016 con un nuevo nivel de profundidad tanto en su formato Dj-Set como Live.

Steffen explora la libertad y los desafíos propios del estilo de vida nómade, aferrándose a su búsqueda sonora y su intuición, lo que lo ha llevado a viajar, conocer y compartir con diferentes artistas. This is a recording of a very special set I played during the silent retreat I put on with my friend Randi. It was called Reflections and the concept is to explore the space of a silent retreat while exploring movement in the form of yoga and dance while being supported by music. It was an extremely potent experience for all of us and this set in particular reached new levels of depth. Sam and I collaborated live with loops coming from some of my slowest tracks. You will probably be familiar with some of them and others will be new but the journey itself is quite unique in that it was totally improvised and Sam's presence lifted the experience into a heavenly bliss. I hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed it live.
