Marco's wistful haiku inspired this solo improvisation on my Ibanez semi-hollow 5-string fretless bass (SRH 505F).
Recorded and mixed in Reaper, using effects from Guitar Rig 6.

A Month For The Sea (naviarhaiku528)

The first time I've combined acoustie music I've recorded (@stellato-strings playing with a looper) with synth sounds (alchemy on Logic Pro X). I realised after that I was trying to make the Metallic Bell into one of my favourite sounds - the horn of American trains. 

This is my response to this week's @naviar-records hailku, written by the label's founder Marco Sebastiano Alessi:

A Shiver, Endless was inspired by the haiku by Marko.

What's a month for the sea
as the waves touch my feet
a shiver, endless

Marco is the creator of Naviar Records.  In his words, "Those were my first days travelling alone in Japan without Gosia and Zoe, so I wrote it thinking about the perception of time, and how much I missed them."

A Shiver, Endless was written for Trumpet, Bass Trumpet, Trombone, Bass Trombone, Vibraphone, Cymbals, Violin, Viola, Cello and String Bass.

Created in Cubase 12 with Native Instruments Kontakt VSTs and Dawesome Love, mastered with Ozone 10.

My Submission to Navir Haiku challenge 528.

Created with a multi element virtual modular patch using VCV Rack mapped to physical controls allowing for "Live" interaction. Triggering waves and manipulating the generative elements and timbre of a main sequence and related diffused layer. 

There is also an entirely probabilistic element that runs once through the piece representing the lunar cycle. This was processed externally through Substrata Physical modelling software from Giorgio Sancristoforo to produce shell like sounds.
