What a pleasant surprise this week that was not planned or expected. NDYD's head honcho, @krissantiago, sent me a new set he had just finished. He wanted me to have it for a future show but I decided to have it up right away for couple of reasons. The main, and most important one, is because it's so good. If you have been following the show for a while you know how talented and what amazing music selector Kris is. This is certainly not his first rodeo on the show as he as been a regular guest since the show started in 2016. Secondly his timing could have not been better because my computer where I do all the mastering of the show, artwork, uploading to SC, etc decided to take a dump. I really believe this was going to be the week that I was going to break my commitment to the program. Along comes Kris with his new set. This bought me time so I could go the Apple store and get a brand new M1 Macbook Pro. It was time to replace my 2016 machine. Either way, back on the program (no pun intended) and thank you Kris for not making me break my stride.

The NDYD Radio Show EP277 - Guest mix by Kris Santiago

This is a very special episode indeed. When we started the show in 2016 we never imagine that we would get to 300 episodes a few years later. A lot of things have changed in the world, in our lives, and around us since EP-01 but one thing that hasn't change is our dedication to bring you some of the best underground dance music around.

Having said that, no better guest to bring you this milestone episode than the head honcho of NDYD, and the guy who started the whole thing - @krissantiago

Kris brings you a high energy dance floor ready set in his signature style and I am so happy that he is helping us cross the 300 mark.

Finally I want to thank you, the listener, for making the show a success for so many years. If you have been around since EP-01 or joined us at EP-299 I am infinitely grateful that you are part of our family.

I did not have time to record a new show this week so instead I am posting a live set I did this summer for a private event for a company called SACO in New York City. The audience was very diverse so I kept the music light and mid-tempo with a lot of edits that they would recognize. Apologies for the roughness in the first few mixes but I had monitor issues. Once they fixed it it went smooth as butter :) Hey, it's live.

Alex is a producer and DJ based out of the Coachella Valley which is east of Los Angeles and where the famous Coachella Festival takes place. Alex is no stranger to NDYD as he was one of our first guests that we had featured when we started the radio show (EP06) and he also contributes and writes regularly for the NDYD Music Blog.

The NDYD Radio Show EP74

Originally aired February 11, 2016. The TRACKLIST is posted below the description. Some of you might know that my last SC account got purged a few months ago and I lost a lot of old mixes. A lot were sets that were recorded live but I also lost a series where I did B2B sessions in my studio with DJ friends when they were visiting LA. One of the most popular one was the one I did with NDYD's label boss Kris Santiago (@krissantiago) when he was here visiting two summers ago. A lot of people reached out to ask after the purge if this mix was still available somewhere. Well now it is! I found the original recording we did and I re-master it   and now it's EP75 of the radio show.  If you heard it before you will be glad to revisit it and if you never did well it still sounds fresh.

Next week we are back with a big special guest from Australia and I can tell you he is one of my favs and I am so excited to have him on the show. I might need a 'doctor' for this one. Welcome to this very special EP76 of the NDYD Radio Show. I am incredibly honored to have a very exclusive mix by non other than the super talented Australian producer Dr Packer! (@dr-packer). He was on fire in 2015 and this year seems to be shaping up even bigger with multiple releases on some of the biggest dance music labels and a European tour in the works.

He has been one of my favorites and I playout all the time whatever tracks of his I can get my hands on. This set has many of his reworks and damn it's good! If Joey Negro has taken notice of Dr Packer you know he is doing something right :)

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
