Today’s guest mix is from a duo of producers Daniel Leseman & Hans Peeman (Junktion) that have recently joined forces under the moniker Fouk. Responsible for some of our favourite productions over the past year these guys and their new label Outplay are certainly on form. It’s always a bit of an experiment when two producers join forces and very often it doesn’t quite work, however their styles, bolstered by their friendship, have joined seamlessly (or so it appears).

Their mix for us today is full of funk, samples, groove and good records, just what we’re after. A particular highlight is the new Hauke Freer track and one from ‘Somethin Gunny’ we’d never heard before.

Welcome to EP-112 of the NDYD Radio Show. This week we have a very special guest mix from a fantastic Los Angeles producer and DJ.

Birdee is the relatively new guise of scene stalwart Marcello De Angelis, who - throughout nearly a decade of activity in dance music – has toured the world from Australia to China, played the most prestigious venues and festivals in the Uk and Europe, collected support from the world's biggest players, and picked up an award for best breakthrough dj in 2008. Since the inception of the Birdee project he has been snapped up by Fatboy Slim’s Southern Fried Records, has remixed Vato Gonzalez, The Whip, Herve’, Malente, Louis La Roche and Mason - and has had his music supported by a veritable who's who of dance music: Fatboy Slim, Oliver Heldens, Laidback Luke, Vanilla Ace, Punks Jump Up, Solidisco and The Aston Shuffle have all been regularly spinning Birdee tracks, while BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM, Capital Radio and KCRW have also shown their love. His single “Shake It” was licensed to the Cream Ibiza 2011 compilation cd and supported by all the major players – also receiving several plays on BBC Radio 1 from Jaymo and Andy George, Kissy Sellout and Annie Nightingale.

After a string of singles on respected Australian imprint Vicious and legendary NYC label Nurvous Records, he is about to release his new Ep on Youth Control in November.

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
