Welcome to EP 166 of the NDYD Radio Show. This is truly a new set since it was recorded live in Hollywood last night (12/1/18). I had the pleasure and honor to open for the world famous house music live band, Tortured Soul (@tortured_soul). This was at my old stomping grounds in Hollywood Club King King. It felt so nostalgic to be back there and it felt just like the old days. Packed dance floor where everyone was having a good time and had huge smiles on their faces from the music. On top of that Tortured Soul was, as always, incredible. I have to admit it was a little bit of pressure to open for them since they are so talented but from what I heard I held my own :) The feeling of coming back behind the decks at this establishment is beyond description. I hope you can sense it when sampling this recording. Enjoy!

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
