The NDYD Radio Show Guest Mixes

The NDYD Radioshow ( @ndyd-rs ) has been founded and is presented by San Francisco's Ricardo Torres, who has been a part of NDYD since the early days. 
His eagerness and motivation has had him doing the show over 2 years now (count in 2016) and he got some amazing guests in. 
Amongst those are Dr. Packer (AUS), Shit Hot Soundsytem (UK), Chuggin Edits (UK), Kris Santiago (GER), Dave Allison (CAN), Alex Hook (RUS), Get Down Edits (IRE), Dino Soccio (USA) and many more.

I am super excited about this episode since it's an exclusive guest mix done for us by none other than the man they call the godfather of the West Coast House movement, Jay-J out of San Francisco. Not only was he behind some of the greatest House Music hits of the early to late 2000s on such labels as Defected, Naked Music, OM, Moulton Studios, and Shifted Music to name a few but he was also nominated for a Grammy for a Jill Scott remix he did.

He has always been one of my idols and I am very honored to call this talented producer and DJ a close friend and a mentor. I hope you enjoy his mix as much as I have. Its been on repeat at the studio.

I did not have time to record a new show this week so instead I am posting a live set I did this summer for a private event for a company called SACO in New York City. The audience was very diverse so I kept the music light and mid-tempo with a lot of edits that they would recognize. Apologies for the roughness in the first few mixes but I had monitor issues. Once they fixed it it went smooth as butter :) Hey, it's live.

Kris Santiago - Sexy Buegel Brettter Mix 28 (OKO Radio Special)

Originally aired February 11, 2016. The TRACKLIST is posted below the description. Some of you might know that my last SC account got purged a few months ago and I lost a lot of old mixes. A lot were sets that were recorded live but I also lost a series where I did B2B sessions in my studio with DJ friends when they were visiting LA. One of the most popular one was the one I did with NDYD's label boss Kris Santiago (@krissantiago) when he was here visiting two summers ago. A lot of people reached out to ask after the purge if this mix was still available somewhere. Well now it is! I found the original recording we did and I re-master it   and now it's EP75 of the radio show.  If you heard it before you will be glad to revisit it and if you never did well it still sounds fresh.

Next week we are back with a big special guest from Australia and I can tell you he is one of my favs and I am so excited to have him on the show. I might need a 'doctor' for this one. Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
