NDYD presents 'The Sessions' ft. Cloak Dagger (NYC) February 2019

I don't even know how to start this 'description' as it has been so long. Either way I'm not going to bore you with what happened in the last year or so but some of the regular listeners are aware that I am very lucky to still be doing the show and just to be here.  All that matters now is that I am back and this time for good. Meaning you will get the WEEKLY shows again.

Thank you to all those that have stuck by me. I know I have a lot of catching up to and I will with new episodes and of course the fantastic guest DJs that will continue to grace the decks.

EP-171 starts with a little tribute to one of my favorite House Music Divas, Kim English. We lost Kim on April 2nd, 2019 but her music will stay timeless and will keep her memory alive. I remember going to House Clubs in NYC in the 90s and dancing to her music into the wee hours of the morning. Her music always made me smile and put me in a good mood.  Starting this episode with Kim English made me go back to my House roots as I will always be a "House Head". But don't think I've given up on Edits, Nu Disco, Deep House or even Yacht Rock. Those styles of show will be coming up in the next few episodes. The NDYD Show does not get stuck only in one genre. The show's 'genre' is simply good music.

Welcome to EP-180 of the NDYD Radio Show. Lately I haven't been too inspired with the new music, remixes and edits that are coming out. Might be just a phase I'm going through cause there are so many talented artists and producers out there but not too much has gotten me excited. In that vein I decided to dig deep in my old hard drives and found so many unreleased (or barely noticed) edits and remixes that were collecting dust from the last 10 years. This is stuff that I don't remember ever using on the radio show. They are all tracks that are still standing the passing of time and will feel new to a lot of people. I have a ton of these so I'm breaking up in multiple parts. Part one, here, is mainly stuff that I received in 2011-12.

I hope you discover tracks you haven't heard before and if you have that it will trigger some good memories of when you heard it first.

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
