Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, @nat-barrera 's creative involvement with music began when he picked up the drums at the age of 12. 
In 2006, he moved to Montreal, Canada, where he has been producing music 
ever since. He plays regularly across the city and region, as well as in renowned venues around the world.  
His distinctive sound matured into an eclectic yet balanced blend of Organic House, and unique world music influences characterized by a defined percussive rhythm and his Latin-American roots. 
Over the years, Nat has had several releases and collaborated with many labels (Grrreat Recordings, 8day, Cosmovision Records, Trndmsk, The Magic Movement, New Latam Beats, O’Tawa, etc.). He is also the recipient of Montreal’s Society for Arts and Technology [SAT] 2019 Euterke prize in the DJ/Producer category.

I had such good streak without missing a show and then it had to happen. Apologies about the radio silence from last week. I hope this episode makes up for it. I hate it when life gets in the way. Oh well, enjoy this episode which leans more towards the funky and jackin' vibes.

The NDYD Radio Show EP225

EP-226 is here! and a couple of notes about it. First, yes it is my B-day episode cause it falls on the day i recorded it this year. Secondly, I recorded this episode right after I went to see and hear Louie Vega play here in Hollywood as he was head-lining a DEEP event with Marques Wyatt . He, being the Master that he is, played AMAZING and got me so inspired that as soon as I got home (which was real late) I turned on the decks and got cooking. You can hear how he inspired me from the beginning of the show. Since it was my B-day a couple of friends joined me and well, I played for them and turned on the recorder. Nobody had to twist my rubber arm for that. I was having so much fun that I even took out a couple of vinyl records that I still had and used to play in the mid-80s when I was into the whole New Wave thing in High School and College.

For the millennial fans, vinyl records are 12" plastic discs that we used to physically touch to cue up and to play music from 😁

It sucks to get old but it sure is fun to still play music - and it keeps me young 😉

Cloak sets the bar high when he is a guest so i'm gonna try to keep up with him and get your ears attention by taking you to the deep end of the NDYD pool. Welcome to EP-139 of the NDYD Radio Show that aired on the d3ep radio network on July 31, 2017. This set was recorded live on July 3rd in Venice, California for the annual Venice Gets DEEP for inDEEPendance (@deeplosangeles).

I had the honor and privilege again this year to host with the talented Heidi Lawden (@heidski) the DEEP lounge at this legendary yearly event. On the same bill we also had the heavy hitters Marques Wyatt (@marques-wyatt), Doc Martin (@sublevel-music), and Big Cee (@chris-big-cee-legaspi).

I had to pleasure to meet Martin a few years ago on a plane. He was on his way back home, to the UK, from his vacation and I was heading to Prague for the start of my vacation. We were both flying out of LA and coincidently sat next to each other. We started to chat and quickly realized that we were both into the same great music and on top of that we were both DJs. Our lives had a lot more parallels so we became friends and stay in contact since.

I am so happy to finally have him on the show. The exclusive set he did for us will not disappoint you. It's been on repeat at the studio since he sent it to me.

His bio reads:

“Martin Taylor started DJing at an early age after being mentored by his father in North Wales, UK.  Alan Taylor was a renowned successful Motown, Disco, Northern Soul, Funk and Soul DJ.   Martin quickly understood the ingredients required to stand out and read the crowd well, ensuring repeat bookings kept flowing in. Even at this young age Martin was innovative and creative in his dynamic mixing skills which have since been credited by Erick Morillo in Spain, who watched Martin perform a full two hour set.  As Martin hit teenager status he had already established himself at the local clubs as promising future talent. This recognition opened up a multitude of gigs and events all over England and Wales which led to solo appearances at events in Puerto Banus, Detroit, Liverpool, Ibiza, Bahrain, Birmingham, Cyprus, Singapore London and Abu Dhabi to name a few.   Martin was also hand picked to become a resident DJ for a brand new Ministry of Sound super club in Asia, which included a full-time residency at the world's first Hed Kandi bar, famed for its chic and glamorous decor.

Martin remains at the forefront of the Disco-House scene, championing exceptional music and boasts a huge library of rare gems and forgotten classics.

He is influenced by the likes of Def Mix, Hacienda UK, Ministry of Sound, Soul Heaven, Studio 54, Paradise Garage, Glitterbox, LDF, Z Records, Pacha and Soulfuric, amongst many other brands and labels”

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
