Pre episode to this week's gig where I'll have the privilege to share the decks with my long time friend Miguel Migs (@miguelmigs1) and Heidi Lawden at Sound Club in Hollywood. To give you a preview of the night I went very soulful with this episode and very "Migsie". I mean, I've been trying to jack his style and skills behind the decks for over 20 years now :) 

It's the sound you a can expect at Sound that night. If you are in LA this friday April 29 I hope you can come and make sure to be there at 10 as I am warming up the night.

I am still buzzing and coming down from last weekend's trip to San Francisco where a friend and I attended the Remedy reunion in the city. I got so inspired by experiencing Julius Papp, Mr. V, David Harness, Jay-J, Miguel Migs, amd Mark Farina all under one roof and back to back that I couldn't wait to get back and record a new episode. These guys had a huge influence on my musical direction when I moved to LA in the mid to late 90s and some of them even became close friends.

I felt I had to dig little deeper in the crates for this episode to honor these guy's talent and legacy. Hence, EP-249 :)

Another milestone for the program. Number 250! That is a lot of freakin' music available for your ears right here. I am happy also that the person who is taking us across the 250th milestone line is  someone who is becoming a regular on the show, my friend Pepper (@pepper_playhouse). She is very in tune with what the show has always been about from the beginning and this set captures that spirit no doubt. I mean Pepper had me hooked as soon as I heard the first bars of the classic 'Sugarman'  from Rodriguez(the first track)and just took me on a ride from there.

It starts like this… There are two French boys, Tom and Antoine who live in a digital village called Plaisance, a spot somewhere between a dusty Chicago record bin and a corner of a Parisian housewarming party. The village isn’t on any map, but if you listen closely you can hear a low-end thump and a crackle of vinyl somewhere in the air.

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
