You know I really thought this was gonna be the week that I would do something I haven't done in months. That is to miss a week's episode. We are so slam at work that I have been working two weekends in a row (including last week's holiday) non stop.

While listening today to some of the new music I've accumulated in the last few weeks as I worked I just couldn't bring myself to miss an episode. I cranked through to the animations I had to do and got around to record EP-267 before the end of the day. I'm so glad I did cause I needed this to wind down a bit from the craziness.

Damn the weeks are really flying by. Feels like it was yesterday that I was posting EP-267 but here we are at EP-268. Again, tons of new music this week including an amazing remix from the man himself, @miguelmigs1, of a Madonna cover from a track she had done back in 1990. Welcome back to MY HOUSE.

I do mean HOUSE as we took a downtempo detour last week but it's always nice to raise the tempo again and come back to familiar grounds. I usually showcase the latest newest underground releases that are floating around but this time I did something different. My digital crate has over 10K tracks so why not revisit some of the tracks and remixes from the last 10 - 15 years that, in my opinion, were underrated and are still relevant. These tracks are not 'classics' but timeless still. If you've never heard one them you might think it's new. Though, there are a few tracks from artists like Blaze, Sandy Rivera, Robert Owens, and others that would def fall in the classics category. I should really dig deeper more often in that crate as all these tracks are still so fresh.

We are a tad early with this week's show but I just couldn't wait to put this guest mix out cause I F'in LOVE IT! You will see what I mean by that 25 minutes into this set :) This guest is no stranger to the show as I think this her fourth installment with us. She is the pepper to my pisco, the one and only @pepper_playhouse

I've heard Pepper play many times and we have even played together but she still amazes me when I hear one of her new sets such as this one. The selection, the flow, and the mixes are top notch and def worthy of the show's standards and vibe. If you listen to rest of her sets here you will quickly figure out how musically versatile she is and it's why she will always have a spot on the program.

Speaking of guest mixes, I have a very special guest coming up next week. An OG of the show and one of my favorite producers who is releasing a new track on our label on November 4 and it's amazing. He will be the first to play it on the show next week and boy are you for a treat so make sure to keep your ears open for this talented maestro.

The NDYD Radio Show  EP274 - Guest mix by Pepper

What a pleasant surprise this week that was not planned or expected. NDYD's head honcho, @krissantiago, sent me a new set he had just finished. He wanted me to have it for a future show but I decided to have it up right away for couple of reasons. The main, and most important one, is because it's so good. If you have been following the show for a while you know how talented and what amazing music selector Kris is. This is certainly not his first rodeo on the show as he as been a regular guest since the show started in 2016. Secondly his timing could have not been better because my computer where I do all the mastering of the show, artwork, uploading to SC, etc decided to take a dump. I really believe this was going to be the week that I was going to break my commitment to the program. Along comes Kris with his new set. This bought me time so I could go the Apple store and get a brand new M1 Macbook Pro. It was time to replace my 2016 machine. Either way, back on the program (no pun intended) and thank you Kris for not making me break my stride.

The year is almost over and keeping the best for last? You might think so after listening to this week's show that is ready for your holiday House parties. I didn't want to talk too much about this returning guest, even if it was planned, as we were trying to get the schedule locked down and didn't want to promise something we couldn't deliver but here it is and it was worth the wait.

@birdee has been very busy this year with all the releases he has put out on major labels but also with his global touring schedule and we luck out that he found time to do this exclusive mix for the show. This is Birdee's second appearance on the program (his last was EP-112)and we are so happy to have him back and spread his good modern Disco vibes again.

The NDYD Radio Show EP280 - Guest mix by Birdee

Here it is. The last NDYD Radio Show for the year. Next weekend is Christmas and the weekend after NYD so the show will be taking a break until 2023. Not to worry though because you will get your money’s worth with EP 281. This episode clock’s in at 3 hours (!) so plenty of new music to keep you grooving til New Year’s when I am planning to return with a best of 2022 episode. Heck, this episode is good to go for your personal NYE House party because it’s pack with feel good Disco. I’m not talking about cheesy Disco that you hear at your friend’s wedding but proper House Disco that takes over you and guides you to the dance floor. This is not a coincidence because after attending the amazing LA performance from Dimitri from Paris last weekend in DTLA I’ve been dying to do a full proper Disco set for the show and that is what EP281 delivers. Amazing modern Disco artists like The Shapeshifters, Louie Vega, Dr Packer, David Morales, my evil twin Mark Brickman, and so many more make an appearance in the last show of the year.  

Another reason why this episode is heavily Disco influenced is because of an event I am playing for on NYD called DISKO BRUNCH here in Hollywood on January 1. I have the honor to share the decks with an amazing roster of artists like Tube & Berger, Colette, Mark London, Big Cee and more. It’s an NYD brunch so there will be food, drinks and DISKO!

Welcome back to the NDYD Radio Show as we return this week with some of the top and newer tracks from amazing artists such as Kings of Tomorrow (KOT), Saison, Richard Earnshaw, Fouk and many more. The stand out track in this episode is from an artist that I have shared the decks with before and who is one of the nicest human in this scene - the amazing and talented @djcolette. I am also privileged to call her a friend for many years. Colette has earn her place in modern House Music history as a producer, vocalist, and a DJ. Her new interpretation of the classic song from The Police 'Message in a Bottle' is the Bee's Knees and with remixes by Demarkus Lewis, Pete Moss, and Local Options it just solidifies it as a staple of a DJ set.

The NDYD Radio Show EP293

The music of West Coast DJ, Ricardo Torres can best be described as a blend of deep, soulful house, and disco inflected with the particular sound of the west coast vibe, sultry and smooth. He plays the music that  heads love to dance to; confident that when the music flows from hands that loves the underground it can be an uplifting, groovy and sexy experience.

Ricardo has been on a quest to achieve that perfect mix ever since his first chance encounter at the turntables, in 1987 at his college radio station in Montreal, Canada. His first 12" records were from the Industrial Electronic Music of that time.  Shortly thereafter in 1988, he was first introduced to House Music. Ricardo quickly changed his direction and followed the early days of Chicago House.  He moved towards this style of music since he found it to have a new and unfamiliar energy within itself.

In 1995 Ricardo, moved to Los Angeles, a city basking in sunrays and radiating the good vibes he himself perpetuated. And here, Ricardo discovered the funky, soulfulness of the west coast sound.  Many of his early heroes such as Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, Miguel Migs, and others gave him the desire to gravitate towards this deeper, more soulful West Coast style.

While still a local Los Angeles DJ, Ricardo - inspired by his love for this genre-decided early on in the year 2000 to post his mixes online to share with the world. This was fairly new and innovative at the time. This act of sharing his musical vision without prejudice or limitations caused him to be sought after to play his brand of house music in cities all over the world. He continues to offer up his masterful mixes, as host of syndicated radio shows online as well as on satellite radio in the USA.

Within the recent past Ricardo joined forces with Nu Disco Your Disco out of Germany for representation and affiliation. This modern Nu Disco sound, to him, is the perfect way to bring that West COast vibe into the future and the new generation. Since NDYD has been a pioneer in bringing the Nu Disco genre to the masses in Europe he felt that they would be the perfect partner for doing the same in North America with their established brand. Hence, the syndicated NDYD Radio Show was born.  The show has been on the air for over a year now and besides Ricardo hosting and DJing it every week, some of the best talent in the industry and from all over the planet have been guest DJs and taken over the show. The loyal following keeps growing episode after episode. 

Underground music trends and styles have changed since Ricardo played his first vinyl record all those years ago but what hasn't changed is that he just loves playing music that inspires the heads to get up and dance!
