There is really too much good music out there these days. Especially when it comes to the underground. I really feel a lot of producers are going back to basics. I certainly love that. They say music takes you to another place and recording this episode did that to me. It took me to a dark warehouse somewhere in DTLA where we only left once the sun started coming up and the music stopped. Hopefully this episode will take you somewhere also. Enjoy.

A Chance To Dance With Collective Groove

There are so many positive things I could say about our guest this week because I ABSOLUTELY love this guy and the friendship we have. He is one of the OGs and alumni of the radio show since it's early days. It's not a coincidence that I am putting out his guest set early because him and I are headlining this coming Saturday at the super club Supernova in beautiful Seattle. One of my favorite places in the world to play. If you are in The City of Goodwill this weekend please join us because the night will be epic. Ajax has given a beautiful preview and taste of what will incur. With his permission, I will copy and paste the note he send me when he forward me the mix which describes beautifully what the mix is about:

"Here we are, a year later after my Alumni Mix and it's already time for my Masters Degree!  It's with great pleasure I present my 6th mix for NDYD Show!  Like every time when given the opportunity to play for the show, I feel like the show always gets the absolute best out of me, and the time & space I currently occupy with my music tastes and preferences. I did find some dope edits this week that I had to play in that style but I hope you brought your scuba gear instead of a yacht attire cause after the first 15 minutes the rest of the episode gets real Deep. Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
