Back, Jack, do it Again - Yes, back with my first program of the year. But before that, I would like to give props and a HUGE thank you to Yissel @soundsbyyissel for taking over the decks last week with the first show of the year and also being the first guest of 2022. She went beyond the call of duty to give the program a proper kick start. Her set and selection is everything that the show is about and what I’ve been trying to build on for the last 7 years. This was Yissel’s second guest spot on the program as a guest and I will definitely not gonna let so much time pass under the bridge for her next appearance. Speaking of last week's guest, I had a nice convo with her about music and how she approaches it. She said something that really stuck with me. A set, or mix, is really telling a story. Most of the time it’s our personal story and we have the ability to control the narrative which is very empowering and healing.

Keeping that in mind it’s how I approached this week’s show. I’ve been listening to different takes/edits on tracks that had a significance during my teenage years. These songs definitely tell part of my story, such as the break ups (hey, I can’t help it I’m a libra), the song that was playing the first time I went to a club underage using fake IDs (hint: it was by Billy Ocean), a track from the Cure that used to haunt me in high school, and many more cuts that were around before my time but that I used to love. There is even a song from my favorite TV show of the time. These are mainly rock and disco songs with a modern take. Hence, the Yacht Rock/ Disco edition. This is volume 1 cause I am hoping to do more if people dig it. If you also grew up around the time I did and these songs bring back any memories let me know. Would love to hear about it. Welcome to EP 313 of the NDYD Radio Show as we return to our old friend The Yacht to chill and enjoy lounge interpretations of our favorite tunes. I ended up splitting this mix into two parts as the original one take set is almost 5 hours long (!!). I was so into this set while making it that I just kept going very late into the night - almost until the sun came up. Thank God I wasn't working the next day :) Next week I will post the second part  but for now enjoy the first two hours and come chill with me.

... and here it is. The second part of last week's yacht lounge mix. As I said then the whole thing is over 4 hours long so I thought it would be a good thing to split it into two sections. If you play them back to back you will notice that it was one long set. I think i got the chill vibe out of me in these last two weeks so next week back to our regular deep house, disco, and just damn good music. BTW getting the chill out of me doesn't mean there will be no more Yacht Lounge. I still have enough chill tracks to fill at least 4 more episodes. Slowly Waking

Elemental Vol. 1 moves through earth, air, fire, and water not as metaphors but as emotional states. The songs drift like weather systems, mixing tenderness with atmosphere - acoustic guitars and field-warm vocals meeting the pulse of understated techno rhythms. The production is deliberately porous: wood and wire breathing alongside soft synths and spectral drum-machine traces. It's an "acoustic techno" album in the sense that rhythm and resonance share the same dirt. The songs carry the physical textures of wind in rafters, gravel underfoot, or rain on a roof, yet they shimmer with digital light. This meeting of folk intimacy and electronic timbres gives the album its peculiar gravity - part back-porch confession, part after-hours heartbeat.

Lyrically, Elemental Vol. 1 abandons conventional pop architecture. Instead of verse–chorus–bridge repetition, each piece unfolds as a field poem - free-form, continuous, and responsive to its own inner weather. The writing treats structure as tide rather than grid: refrains return when they need to, not when they're told to. This openness lets the language breathe in sync with the natural imagery that drives it - storms, light, stone, silence - and invites listeners to inhabit the songs as evolving spaces rather than predictable forms. Across the various mixes of its six song poems - We Learn the Sky, Don't Sightsee This Heart, Be a Storm in Me, Til the Heat Is Gone, You Happen Like Weather, and Wild Gifts - the album traces the cycles of intimacy and impermanence, finding in their motion the same quiet power that turns seasons, wheels, and hearts.

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.
