Welcome to the NDYD Radio Show. Happy New Year to all the listeners!  As promised last week here is the 2023 compilation (and the first episode of 2024) of some of my favorite tracks that I played on the show during the year (this is only part 1). These are not necessarily tracks that came out last year, some go back almost 20 years, but they were all played in at least one episode of 2023. 

The method to my madness was that I picked 1 or 2 tracks from each of the episodes of 2023. This gave me a total of over 100 tracks which is the reason why I am breaking up the 2023 compilation into different parts to make it manageable.

This week is part 1 and next week or the week after I will upload part 2 which will be the rest. This has been a labor of love and I hope that if you are a regular listener you will recognize some of these favorites from the past episodes.

Next weekend I will be in Seattle to play at the famous Monkey Loft which is the reason why part 2 of this compilation might be up the week after but the plan is also to record my set at the Monkey Loft to include it as a future episode.

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
