Germany’s Tilman inaugurates his new imprint Pleasant Systems this June with the ‘Adventures’ EP, featuring collaborations with Will Buck and Rhode & Brown.

Mainz, Germany based producer and DJ Tilman has been dropping his twist on contemporary house over the past decade on labels such as Shall Not Fade, Life Is For Living and Quality Vibes as well as his own Fine imprint, run in collaboration with Johannes Albert. Here though, Tilman marks a new beginning with the launch of Pleasant Systems, a new imprint designed to shine a light on vintage inspired house sounds from both himself and friends.

Up first is ‘What’s Mine Is Mine’, a collaboration with Brooklyn’s Will Buck which lays down an amalgamation of airy synth pads, choppy bass stabs, bright piano lines and enchanting flute like melodies atop a swinging drum groove. ‘Strawberry Fields’ follows, stripping things back to shuffled percussion, billowing ethereal textures and wandering sub bass tones while fluttering brass tones and resonant leads ebb and flow within.

‘Velvet Park’ opens the flip side, this time joining forces with Rhode & Brown, embracing a classic sound with raw crunchy drums, delayed piano chords, bumpy bass stabs, cinematic strings and brass hooks throughout. ‘Lovin'’ then rounds out the release, dropping the tempo, featuring the voice of Tilman himself and laying focus on off-kilter organic percussion, twinkling resonant tones, eighties tinged synth chords and g funk moog style bass to perfectly conclude Pleasant System’s debut...

Not many artists can say that they have done official mix compilations for the likes of Yoshitoshi, Bedrock and Balance... Luke Fair please stand up. Luke Fair is a name that's been on the scene for over 10 years now plying his trade all over the world, and he first came to our attention with the massive 2002 Kritical/Let U Know 12" on Black Recordings (Let U Know was famously featured on the Satoshi Tomiie Nubreed compilation). Luke went on to establish himself as one of the world's premier selectors to call upon for warming up dancefloors, and he was even asked to be the official warm-up DJ for Sasha on his North American Involver tour. Since then Luke has become an headliner in his own right, playing a deep, almost Balaeric-sounding variant of house that will get the most rigid of bodies grooving. Back in 2007 Luke Fair delivered one of the more housier outings with his Balance 011 effort, and he continues that exploration of house in the second of our Balance Selections series.

When you fall in love for the first time, in that way that the other person matters more to you than you yourself, everything begins to change. You are flying, you feel like never before, if you had that once you know exactly what I am talking about. And when this person leaves you you start dying, no you die immediately and its getting worse every day. It takes you ages to find something like your own identity again, something that is able to go on alone. It is one of the toughest things to do. But there is something like the doctor that lives inside your pain. If you go on and somehow manage this situation you start developing something. You develop gratitude for the fact that you were able to feel so deep. In both ways. This gratitude makes you calm and then you start to be love and this is totally independent. You carry this feeling you had for that person in your heart and you feel it for everything - for life itself. You don’t love anymore, its not something you do it's something you are from now on - what a beautiful transformation.

This set is produced for the Moods Editions, where I stick to one style for two hours. Not mixing up everything, what I usually do in Cosmic Music Movement. This time for the third time pure love and dreaming, super chilled....

Welcome to EP-328 of the NDYD Radio Show where we take a detour to Seattle, WA for a live recording from the famous Monkey Loft - The sound of the underground in that city.

I had an absolute blast at my first gig of 2024. It wasn't my first rodeo at 'The City of Goodwill' but it was close to be one of my favorite visits this time around. It was special because the Monkey Loft was the first club that I ever played at in Seattle years ago and the heads over there sure know how to handle a dance floor. No house track was underneath their dancing. I also had the privilege to meet some fans and followers of the show that came to say hi and told me that it was the reason they were there. The def put me in the right mood for the night.

This set is dedicated to you Seattle fans - you know who you are :) I hope this brings good memories of an awesome night. Thank you to all who showed up and we will do it again for sure.

Sunday. That most hallowed of days. Be you just finishing your night out at an after, after party or just unwinding with a nice glass of vino, we embrace the end of the weekend for what it is, a chilled out affair.  Thus, we thought it was about time we started soundtracking this most underrated of times, asking our favourites DJs to dig through their record boxes and serve up something a little different for our brand new Chilled Transmission series.

After last weeks more funk infused mix from Homeboy, fun loving German duo Satin Jackets serve up set of selections designed primarily to make you feel, well human again. We'll freely admit the cold weather and the fact it's still not quite Christmas yet had begun to take its toll on us here at DT towers but luckily Tim B and Den Ishu were on hand to cure our chronic case of SAD with an hour long mix of super sexy, infectious house music that's pure summertime.

Edition 016 see's us bring forth Belfast based, Brighton native, Hot Digits label boss and long time inspiration to us - Fingerman.

Gregg Holmes aka Fingerman has been one of the most dedicated re-edit masters to our knowledge. Since our inception as a little gathering in the upstairs of Shoreditch boozer 8 years ago, we have avidly collected his reworks, re-edits and more recently his newer original productions on his label.  Without a shadow of a doubt, he had a profound effect on us at the beginning of our foray into playing Disco - introducing us to a barrage of old music, previously unknown to us, all touched by his masterful style creating extensions and more DJ friendly versions of some classic tracks and lesser known rarities which are either hard to get hold of, or lets face it, just a pain in the arse to mix due to live drum and percussive elements on the original recordings.

His work is regularly praised for by two of the most influential figures within the edit scene - Dimitri From Paris & Greg Wilson (who has consecutively charted Fingerman edits on his Credit To The Edit blog for the past 5 years - and even released a few on his A&R edits imprint)

Over the years, we've kept an attentive ear to Gregg's sounds and have witnessed the development from his early days up until the present, its been a great process to listen to and also watch reactions to his material on the dancefloor too, having witnessed the man himself play on the same stage at us at Locomotive Disco in London and also for his mammoth annual street party in Brighton for Pride Festival with the Get Down Edits guys & Jay Ru (check his Soundcloud for the extended recordings of these events)

Ricardo Torres is a West Coast DJ whose sound blends deep, soulful house and disco with the smooth, sun-kissed energy of Los Angeles. His mixes are crafted for true dance floor devotees—uplifting, groovy, and deeply rooted in the underground.

Ricardo began his DJ journey in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, later discovering Chicago House and falling in love with its raw emotion and rhythm. After moving to Los Angeles in 1995, he found inspiration in the city’s soulful spirit and from influential DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs.

An early pioneer of online mix sharing in 2000, Ricardo quickly gained international recognition, leading to global performances and radio syndication. In 2016, he partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD) to launch the NDYD Radio Show, a weekly showcase of modern Nu Disco and soulful house that continues to attract a devoted worldwide audience.

Across decades and evolving trends, Ricardo’s mission remains the same: to share music that uplifts, connects, and celebrates the enduring groove of house. The NDYD Radio Show airs live every Saturday on d3ep.com—1 PM in Los Angeles, 3 PM in Chicago, 4 PM in New York, 9 PM in London, and 6 AM Sunday in Sydney—bringing the West Coast vibe to listeners around the globe.
