Glitterbox Radio Show 237: Presented By Melvo Baptiste

Dale Gold heads up the show this week with a fabulously funky set of weekend groovers. Our special guest was Andy Buchan, who brings an eclectic vibe to the show, spinning slinky downtempo grooves, housey tech and other electronica. Andy runs his own record label called Hot Gorilla, along with fellow funkmeister “Conan the Selector”, and has unleashed a series of red-hot edits and disco monsters.

As a producer Andy is prolific, releasing quality tracks on a regular basis. He’s signed to 12 different record labels, including Hot Digits, Midnight Riot and Masterworks music. He also co-runs his own record label called Hot Gorilla.

His tracks have been supported by the likes of Craig Charles, Danny Rampling, Greg Wilson and Bicep, to name but a few.

As a DJ, he’s opened for some serious talent including Fatboy Slim, Groove Armada, Basement Jaxx and Calvin Harris.

Welcome back dear listener to the NDYD Radio show's first episode of the year. New year, new tracks!

EP-371 is made of only new tracks that I got in the last two weeks. Except for the last track but I do mention that in the VO.

I'm excited about some of the new tracks that I got my hands on this week either purchased or received by promo. Big week for that but I have to admit that the stand out track in this episode is a new promo not by one, but two (!) of my favorite artists collaborating on this gem. Sebb Junior original remixed by B&S Concept! I think I'm gonna faint.... lol This track will exclusively be available on 1/17 on Traxsource. The original and all the remixes. Highly recommended :)

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
