A day late but worth it :) Here is the live recording from my warm up set at the Compact Disco event where I had the opportunity to open up for the Chicago legends DJ Heather and DJ Colette. Also in the line up was Kenny Summit from the Bay Area. If you were there I hope it brings back some good memories and if you got there later or missed it you have the chance to catch up.

The NDYD Radio Show EP380 - Ricardo Live from Compact Disco - March 15, 2025

Welcome lovers of House Music for adults. Hoping you had a great week since the last episode. I certainly have by finishing big projects at work and starting new exciting ones. This week also felt like summer, and  it’s the kick off of Pride Month so lots of loving and good vibes in the air. 

I also got involved in a new art project where I will be supplying the soundtrack for ‘deiSogni’. As they describe it, this will be a  ‘an immersive rebirth of the collective dream through art, theatre, film, technology, and music.’ This is happening June 26-27 here in the LA Art District. If you are in the city of Angels give them a follow on Instagram at deisogni.la to get all the info on this fantastic project that is oozing with creativity in all fields. As far as EP-392, it is dance floor ready a la ‘Glitterbox’ and it’s meant to be played loud at your summer get together and events.  Especially pool parties.  This episode was also recorded for the first time with my my new digital recorder. My old Zoom H4n finally took its last lap after using it for almost 15 years for the show and on the road. Thank God for Amazon next day delivery. I got the new 2024 version  of the H4n (now called H4 Essential) that is smaller, black in color, and has more buttons and technology than its predecessor. It took half a day to figure it out. I felt like Cassian Andor when he was trying to steal a prototype of the Tie Avenger (Star Wars fans know what I am talking about). The recording sounded pretty good in the studio so let me know if it feels that way from your end. I am only uploading WAV non compressed versions of the show now so it’s high quality audio. What Soundcloud’s audio algorithm does with it to stream it is beyond my control.

The NDYD Radio Show EP401

No new music this week 😐 I did not have time to go through new releases or promos I received this week.

BUT - I dug deep into my digital crates 💯. As I mention in the show I've accumulated over 20K tracks since I started playing digital files so you would think I could find 25 or so cuts to fill a 2 hour slot, and I did 🙌🏼

The tracks I picked for this episode are not new but will feel new to a lot of the listeners. In my opinion, these were overlooked when they came out and are still timeless and can certainly rock the dance floor.

EP-403 visits the last 30 years or so of House music that accompanied us when we were clubbing and going to undergrounds in the last 3 decades.

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
