This native Italian & Berlin based duo needs no introduction. Mind Against started in 2011 and barely 3 years later they are on the crown jewels of the Life and Death label after showing their incredible studio skill. In 2012 and 2013 they also composed several remixes for, amongst others, WhoMadeWho, Art Department, Róisín Murphy, Green Velvet on labels such as Kompakt, Cocoon Recordings, and Vakant.

Mind Against’ sound is very difficult to describe, but we dare to say that the mixture between house and techno appears to sound very deep, trippy and provocative. When they play it’s a sure thing that one can lose themselves in the music and travel to distant universes while dancing.

Hello again, Happy New Year to everyone out there.

After another hectic year, another big project for me personally awaited as 2015 began. Somethng I know many of you anticipate every single year - the Global DJ Broadcast Classics Showcase. 

I can't believe that this would be the tenth edition.

When I was growing up and getting lost in music on the radio, some of my fondest memories involved listening to all the classic songs that would be played, particularly on New Year's Day. So the idea of doing a classics showcase once a year on GDJB was born out of those feelings.

It's always one of the most mentally challenging and emotionally demanding sets to put together, because somehow you want to create a journey that will be magical for everyone to listen to - regardless of how long you have been listening to all things electronica. For many of you, there will be a whole host of iconic tracks you will be hearing for the first time, and maybe even unearthed gems for the more seasoned folk.

So hopefully there is a nice spread of years represented throughout, and this is something that will resonate with you for some time to come. As a new year dawns, we can take a moment to celebrate the tunes and moments that define our era.

Hope you have a wonderful 2015, and hope even more that we can create some magical memories together.

Silk Music Showcase 275 - Supernatet Guest Mix

Nobody knew too much about Krywald & Farrer when their email landed in our Gmail accounts late earlier this month. They’ve earned their stripes, yes. Their residencies at a number of London’s clubs tell us that story. But today’s debut tells us that they clearly just get a kick out of smushing genres together.

The NDYD Radio Show EP52 - Special One Year Anniversary Show

In late 2010 a new girl rolled into town, a blonde bombshell ready to show the town there was a new Disco and House head around, this one with a British accent. Equipped with club-sense and skills to pay the bills, it seemed she was destined to be playing the exhaustive and often demoralzing SF club circuit. But, even with her honed abilities, selections, and timing, Carrie held on, opting for a less abrasive approach. Cooking slowly like a good Sunday roast, Carrie turned heads and created a bit of a cult fanbase one magical set at a time. Slipping onto the decks at a naughty 4am gathering, dropping a heartfelt yet razor sharp mixtape to a handful of friends, and often highlighting herself at club nights only a couple of times a year, Carrie started to become San Fran-surefire. Where as many of her peers got their legs caught in the trap of trendy genres and ambitious sounds for rooms the size they would never DJ in, Carrie kept her music on the floor with the people. So she became a bit of a guarantee… "A Carrie Morrison set? You just know, you're gonna just get some things." Guaranteed? A pack of sweaty psychedelic Bears, a spinning coven of Fleetwood Mac inspired revelers, the late 60’s “I was there when this wasn’t a sample” daddies, and the streaming playlist obsessed Twinks. Guaranteed? Soaring lyrics to remind you humanity has a voice and that you can dance on top of it, synthesizers that put you on a windy seaside cliff to think about everything at once, and a crescendo, Morrison always builds her sets to a song that has the room breathing together resisting the urge to be the first person to hug someone. Guaranteed? That the download button is turned on for this mix and that it will likely weave itself into the fabric of your life, the soundtrack to a beachside bonfire, the pump me up while you mascara before your night out, or even the “taking a walk to cry this one out” podcast. It has been 4 years since Carrie made us a honeypotcast and man was it worth the wait.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
