I've been very busy these last few weeks with multiple projects. I did not have time to record a new show this week so instead I am posting a live set I did this summer for a private event for a company called SACO in New York City. The audience was very diverse so I kept the music light and mid-tempo with a lot of edits that they would recognize. Apologies for the roughness in the first few mixes but I had monitor issues. Once they fixed it it went smooth as butter :) Hey, it's live.

This is only two and half hours of the 6 hour (!) set I did. Maybe in the future I will post the rest. Next week we return with a special guest from Miami.

The Black Light Disco show returned to the airwaves on New York's finest house music station, www.myhouseradio.fm on Monday 25th May 2020 with a blistering show of disco, nu-disco, funky grooves and sassy moves. 

Hosting the show for the first hour was BLD resident, Ste Hendry aka Esteban - who was showcasing a bucket full of new and upcoming releases, along with one or two from the disco vault.

For the second hour, we had a very, very special guest mix from the one and only Chewy Rubs - aka Tom Vine.  Head honcho of the most excellent Bandolier Records, Tom is one of the most talented producers on the scene - with a string of releases not only on his own label, but also featuring regularly on massive labels such as Hot Digits, Re-Loved, Spa In Disco and Midnight Riot to name but a few. We were delighted and honoured to have him on the show and we can guarantee his set will whip the pants right off of you! Black Light Disco Show 25 May 2020 with Esteban & Chewy Rubs

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
