Spread over 52 shows from 2015 there was over 500 tracks. It was very hard to narrow that down but I was able to pick just under 100 tracks and here are the first 40.

FUNKY TIME // 1h - Mixed by Angelo Ferreri

‘Remember Love’ was a diversion from the norm – an all-day gathering with the emphasis on the social; enabling me to feature music I wouldn’t generally get chance to play.
 
A couple of days before the event I burnt off 9-hours-worth of tracks onto CD – just a semi-random selection of music I’ve uploaded for personal listening, rather than stuff I’m using for DJing. My spot was for 3 hours, so only a third of these classics and curios would make the cut on the day (which amounted to 41 selections). I wanted to do something different to what I generally do, playing not what I normally play, so I decided that there’d be no re-edits and that I wouldn’t mix (although I’d link the tracks with sound fx from the Revox).
 
So, having selected from a spectrum of tunes of varying styles, and with plenty of scope for the spontaneous flavour I wanted, it was pretty much a case of making it up as I went along, skipping from genre to genre and letting things free-flow. And a thoroughly enjoyable 3 hours it was, despite the elements being against us - rain intermittent throughout the day. However, this didn’t dampen spirits and I decided to stay set-up outside with the music also piped inside into District for those who wanted to avoid a soaking.
 
Big thanks to my fellow selectors Josh Ray and Jill On Top, plus The Isrights, The Reynolds and the Reverend Cleve Freckleton for an inspired Super Weird Jam (although unable to perform, Kermit Leveridge was in attendance despite being taken ill a couple of nights earlier at the ill-fated Hope And Glory festival where he appeared with Black Grape). Also shout out to Jayne, Eric, Ra and all Yard/District crew who enabled this to take place and provided such a great environment in which to meet new friends amongst familiar faces.

The London Disco Society @ Shoreditch Platform - 20 Jan 2018

Russia-based, nu-disco and slow-mo powerhouse, Buzz Compass, is our next feature in the Slow Mo Lounge mix series, alongside South African founder DJ Kongisto.

They've collaborated on yet another 3hr soundscape driven by chunky nu-disco reworks, and slow-mo sounds, played at an 88 to 95BPM rhythmic speed.

Kongisto says: It's been quite an honour to play alongside such a prolific producer. My biggest privilege is being able to connect with people from countries outside of my own with a common purpose, it's almost like sharing a language. For Andrey and I, it was a love for Deep and Slow-Mo House as well as Disco that brought us together - proving once again that music is a borderless society - something I'd like to harness with every release.

Buzz Compass, aka Andrey Bychenkov, is a producer and DJ who hails from St. Petersburg Russia. Since 1997 Andrey has been the resident DJ in his native city of Ivanovo and Nizhny Novgorod where he has lived for a couple of years, honing his skills on the turntables. 

Now based in St. Petersburg, Buzz has been producing since 2011 with multiple releases on Glenview Records as well as three EPs on No More Hits Records. 

He has also released his own music on top labels such as Editorial, Whiskey Disco, Masterworks Music, Midnight Riot, Freedom Sessions and more. 

Andrey loves repping his country; Russia, never passing up an opportunity to spin natively and in neighbouring countries Belarus and Kazakhstan. An avid disco collector and lover, Buzz is always looking for local disco and house music artists to promote the Russian scene which is exemplary in his dynamic sets & mixes.

Since debuting in the early 2000’s dutch trio Kraak & Smaak have established themselves as one of Europe’s premier purveyors of eclectic, funk fueled dancefloor positivity. They have just released their sixth studio album ‘Pleasure Centre’ and is the first Kraak & Smaak LP to be released via their own label Boogie Angst. Since the late noughties Mighty Mouse has been carving out his own path making innovative disco and house music whilst cementing his reputation as a truly international DJ.

2019 was his breakout year following the release of his critically acclaimed anthem, ‘The Spirit’. Released on Defected’s Glitterbox imprint, it’s a former ‘Hottest Record In The World’ on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show and one of the defining sounds of Glitterbox. An extensive touring schedule ensued across Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand including his own headline shows, along with his debut at the esteemed Glitterbox parties.

2019 also saw a resurgence of his track ‘Midnight Mouse’ (largely due to the infamous Folamour Boiler Room moment - now with over 1 million views). Remixes of Fiorious’ ‘Future Romance’, Qwestlife’s ‘Hit It Off’ and Boston Bun’s ‘I Don’t Wanna Dance’ followed with a flow of classy edits. Craig Charles quoted on his BBC Radio 6 show that the Mighty Mouse edit of Double Exposure is ‘one of the best of the year’ and edit legend Greg Wilson put the Mighty Mouse edit of Controversy by Prince and his Double Exposure Edit in his top 20 edits of 2019

With the imminent arrival of new music in 2020, this Mouse is showing no signs of slowing down, his infectious energy and commitment is paying off.

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.
