Here is the recording of my recent set at UMI club in Brussels (10/31/24). I took immense pleasure in crafting this 3-hour warm-up ahead of @man-outta-space and @lauracharlier. My aim was to immerse the club into the dark recesses of what Freud described as ‘Worrying strangeness’: that hidden strangeness within us all, an unfathomable mystique that shadows our existence. From this natural mystique, I sought to guide the audience through the deepest club sounds of techno, rooted in the resonances of Detroit and infused with low-end basses, adding layers of depth and reverberating intensity.

PS: I encountered a slight issue with my recorder, which split the recording into two parts. Strangely, the gain on the second part is slightly lower.

Vector Field is Antoine, a sound technician, producer, and DJ. He has
been active in the electronic music scene since the late 90s starting
collecting records and mixing on vinyls in small raves of the
countryside. Drawing from various experiences, he transmits positive
energy through its own music, infusing it with his special touch, a mix
between layered rhythms and evolving soundscapes with that kind of
kinetic energy. From old alias Stigr to Vector Field he has released
many Lp’s and Ep’s with a different approach each time.

Chullachaki, perhaps best put into the box of an nomadic tekno-punk, that has his roots in the underground tekno movement of Europe from early 2001 ,in abandoned warehouses and squatted places , initially inspired and heavily influenced by the free-spirit and raw sounds of the Lego, Subsound, IFP, Circus Alien, Acid Anonymous and Spiral Tribe Soundsystems.

After many years of anti-authoritarian acid-adventures in the trenches of the world-wide underground in recent years an overwhelming feeling of disappointing disillusionment by the more and more commercial , hedonistic and self-destructive sites of the rave party scene has motivated him to finally start recording a few mixes after all these years to try to share particular emotions and memories.

The sounds he most enjoys to play with these days can be described as mental, hypnotic, psychedelic from fast paced to slow with alternating currents of intensity that often spiral through poly-rhythmic wormholes and unpredictably chaotic percussions.

Overall he aims to provide a deeply touching and diverse sound journey that aims to create multi-dimensional hypnotic soundscapes that rejuvenate our heart and soul, induce emotions and broaden horizons.But most importantly always embracing the absurdity of our current human condition. His mixes are usually recorded during the heat and intensity of a particular moment ,raw and ruff focusing to catch a particular feeling and moment in time.

After returning to Japan, he has continued to curate unique parties that transform various spaces—ranging from nightclubs to art venues—primarily in Tokyo. In 2021, he launched his event series “lift” alongside Ryosuke Tushiya of Pflaume Sound.

Mix Description:

This mix was recorded during an open set at my party, “lift.” Designed to set the tone before a live performance, it focuses on creating a deep and introspective atmosphere. Through gradual transitions, the mix evolves to shift the energy of the space, maintaining a serious and immersive vibe.
