What if I made this sound like trash, but in an entertaining way? This is all about grease, it's totally cooked. I wanted to over-process, crush, distort, and glitch to my boundaries of intelligible. I started by making some junky sounding drum hits with a lot of layers, and breaks. I made some of the bass synth patches long ago. The first hoover-ish lead was initially high pitched west coast 90s gangster rap style, but that octave didn't fit the rest of the elements, and it sounded boring once I nudged it down. For the crescendo I fed chord progressions into a modular synth and came up with various arps until it went crazy enough to sound like it was malfunctioning. The little voice samples "take medicine", "no heartbeat", and "no pulse" I thought fit because drug abuse also deep fries people. It's like if your drugs started talking to you in a weird voice while you were absolutely toasted. The outro is a voice memo I sent to my friend one afternoon while making coffee. By the end of this project, it had crashed my computer like 100x. I thought the style of this track would end up being lo-fi, but no, it became super gross instead.
