Fossils and DNA confirm humans are one of more than 200 species belonging to the order of Primates. Within that larger group, humans are nested within the great ape family. Although we did not evolve from any of the apes living today, we share characteristics with chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans (the great apes), as well as other apes. We most likely evolved from Homo heidelbergensis, the common ancestor we share with Neanderthals, who are our closest extinct relatives.

I just do this stuff to learn more about music and composition. I'm originally a visual artist and approach music in the same way I create imagery with layers and tones that conjure emotions or hint to familiarity.

I have been creating music since my misspent youth. Every song has a story.

I started with sample based tracks via Dance eJay and Acid Music on my x486 PC, the output from which I would describe as interpretive.

My first writing from scratch started with the glorious Yamaha RM1x and subsequently the Yamaha RS7000. With limited responsibility and seemingly endless weekends, I found the creative spark.

I have diddled a bit with my Teenage Engineering OP-1, Novation Circuit and Korg Electribe 2 (see tracks for evidence), and I briefly touched the Native Instruments Maschine MK2 but I didn't have the PC power to run with that.

Once Akai announced the MPC Live, I was positively salivating and purchased on release.

It has always been about an all in one box solution for me, and now I am only limited by my own creativity and precious free time (thanks, kids).

I write things that I like to listen to, but commercial music this is not. I could see my music in a game, artsy video or fever dream.

At least, when it's all done, I can say that I made some nice noise, even if nobody else thinks so.
