We apologise for the delay in our schedule, but we had to make preparations for the arrival of a queen 👑 Kick starting the weekend and bringing some serious fiiiiire with 40 minutes of hardcore for Mix 18, it’s none other than @mixtresss. 

Fresh off a(nother) Late Night Shopper set, @djmag feature, @rinsefm debut (alongside the main lobster and memelord @asquithhhhh), @subtleradio guest shows, and a Reprezent guest show (amongst many others)... is there anything this gal isn’t doing at the minute? Not forgetting her ongoing @balamii residency, Mixtress is taking the DJ world by an absolute storm... and that’s all before clubs have even opened their doors again. 

Mixtress was kind enough to give a bit of insight to the method behind the madness and what to expect from her as clubs ready to open their doors again... So grab a Guinness, and *don’t* settle down, cos the next 40 minutes are full of some serious fast cuts ‘n blends and a relentless bass to keep you on your feet.

Pushing for the hardcore agenda down in London, Mixtress has been absolutely killing it this year with stunning mixes on FOLD, Threads, Netil, 1020, Aaja, Subtle, Mode, foundation fm, Reprezent, Rinse and a recently-launched residency on Balamii. As well as this, Mixtress continues to inspire and support a range of female and non-binary DJs and producers through her highly admirable work as Sisu’s creative lead. 

In her guest mix for GAB, Mixtress showcases her eclectic collection with an outstanding mix dominated by electro but featuring drill, grime, breaks, bashment, jungle and hardcore - pretty much everything under the sun! 

We’re extremely gassed that Mixtress herself considers her GAB mix as one of her all-time favourites. Booked in at a range of mad events this summer, including Das Booty’s takeover at Venue MOT Unit 18, promoters best be hitting up Liquid Paradise to secure bookings with one of London’s freshest DJs! Word on the street is that Mixtress may even be making an appearance in Leeds sometime soon!

Nashville-based producer @jasoncode makes his Scuffed Recordings debut with a three-track EP of high-octane, freewheeling bass and club music.

Originally hailing from Seattle, Jason has become a fixture in the Tennessee dance community in the past ten years as part of the Terminal 8 crew, booking acts like Nikki Nair, ELISE, Kush Jones, and Leonce among others.

Following a string of self-released projects in 2020, Jason brings his unique style to Scuffed, incorporating elements of breaks, bass, UK garage, and more.

Opening with the title track, ‘HOT!’ sees Jason contrast bouncing chords and gleeful vocal samples with a lurching bass drop and clattering breaks.

‘City 17’ ups the tempo with wonky arpeggios veering over a fierce kick drum, and eventually developing into a shuffling, speed garage-esque beat.

‘Decisions’ closes out the release, jumping between eerie vocals, pounding kicks and skittish breaks to further build on Jason’s signature sound.
