Dublin’s Woozy label premieres on wax with Radial, the debut EP from newcomer Coe (@djcoefroms11). 3 dubstep-informed club weapons b/w a percussive rework from Or:la (@orla_cd).

The title track recalibrates mid-noughties FWD> pressure, suspending us in an E-licked smog before puncturing the rave-lry with thrusting bass stomps and fervorous IDM-adjacent drums for an electro-id crazed stomper. Say (KL Tribute) flexes Coe’s wub mechanics, presenting computerised sound chaos before dropping a half-step hungry wobble fest, mounting the pressure on the ‘floor to a near combustible, skanking peak.

On the flip, 403 slightens the pace for a chugging techno/electro zinger with a faint dembow shell, sounding like the soundtrack to a sinister salsa dance. Or:la’s drum-tastic Radial rework sees us out, conducting an orchestra of percussive pistons akin to a ravey engine room for a mid-tempo grooving killer.

Huey Mnemonic (Detroit) and D. Strange (Chicago) are not only interested in the future, but they offer a stark reminder of an ever desolate present.

Their split EP State of Emergency (via Mnemonic’s Subsonic Ebonics label) sonically structures a bleak narrative across 4 electro-laden tracks from the midwest-based producers.

The escapade begins with “Black Manta Corps”, Huey’s classically styled 808 programming accompanying modulated analog synth play up front, while a stirring crescendo of soundtrack-esque chords provides cover from the rear. “Red Alert” offers the juxtaposition of funk-tinged bounce to a searing siren lead. Midway we’re offered a brief moment of repose with Huey demonstrating a masterful computer-funk bridge before the sirens’ sobering tone returns.  

D. Strange continues the journey lacing haunting synth interplay that steadily stacks the tension alongside stimulating melodies, chest-pounding bass, and scattered triplets on “Exoframe”. While “Drapetomania” closes things out with zipping percussion, a mutated bass line, and atmospheric droning pads panning like a shadow creeping closer and closer…

PREMIERE: Premis - Adobo (Thrived Remix) [Sound Transmissions]

The wind rustled gently through the trees, teasing the remaining crisp brown leaves from their branches. A blanket had now formed on the ground, covering any remaining grass that had managed to squeeze the last drops out of summer. This turn of the season was her favourite; when bobble hats and thick mittens would be dredged from storage boxes, and winter coats donned for misty, sun-drenched morning walks. The earthly colours; the freshness of the air; the pitstops for mandatory hot drinks — she felt an immediate warmth at the first whiff of Autumn.

To commemorate five years of existence of Nantes-based club Macadam, Garde-Robe Records, the label arm of the club's artistic team Androgyne, have rallied friends and family for a compilation which highlights the sounds and names making the city's club culture tick. Everybody who's contributed to the release, which includes RONI, Younger Than Me and A Strange Wedding, have played at the club over the last five years and are championing the sounds dear to the space, from bass and breaks to rave and trance.

It seems like yesterday when @tomherman-1 brought his bass-driven tunes to Amsterdam, and we’re happy to share with you a taste of his warped sonic craft made in Gilford. Tom has lived in Utrecht for about 9 years, and since he moved back to his British hometown he’s been pushing music further beyond the usual UK garage, with lots of overseas ghetto beats and futuristic drum programming.

"Flippen Bits is the new offshoot from the Amsterdam based Flippen Disks label ran by Monty DJ. While the main imprint sets out to find its own space in between genres to move dance floors while staying non-functional enough for home listening pleasure, this new sub has a more functional approach. Wild and energetic, bass heavy bits for the more playful DJ's in the late nights.

First up is Marok (@letsgomaroki), the Wales raised and Amsterdam based producer, known for recent releases on E-Beamz and Shall Not Fade offshoot Lost Palms, comes in strong with four excellent futuristic bass hybrids. It also contains two MXC reworks created together with Nottingham's @coraliescoob

Coldred EP is a wild ride, it takes you from the heavy percussion title-track Coldred to the acidic stuttering breakbeats of Nightshop On The Way. The MXC version adds a true sub-heavy steppers vibe to the original where they flip TFMPP into a mesmerizing broken beat affair fit for the wormhole. With early support from DJ's like Madam X and mad miran it's an exciting new chapter in the Flippen Disks catalog with loads more lined up for the next year."
