I never intended to write a love song! However, I ended up with one that I quite like. 

It came about after I had been to a spate of weddings. I noticed that at each of these weddings, whoever was preaching seemed to read from the same book in the Bible. They all read from 2 Corinthians, chapter 13 which lays out God's definition of what love is about. 

Two things caught my attention; firstly, God's definition of love differs quite a bit from what we get shown in the general media. Secondly I noticed that alot of the sentences rhymed or could be made to just by playing about with the order of the words a bit. 

This was enough to spark my interest and I started to see if I could turn it into a song. The music for it started off as a three note melody, this took a while to turn into the full song here. Once again there was never a bassist about when I needed one so I had to play that as well as program the drums, play the guitar and synth parts, sing, record, mix ....etc, etc.

Hi there.
We are travel enthusiasts, bonfire experimentalists, hot dog haters, binge talkers and, every once in awhile, band mates. We are Nelson At The Helm. The band members in alphabetical order are: Jared Nelson and Rachelle Nelson. Although the vision was born much earlier, the band drew it's first breath in 2012 after we got married in our home town- Boise, ID.  We love to write indie-pop duets centering on love, life, loss, redemption and impossible rescue scenarios involving sharks.
