Seven Years At The Chi Factory 

Hanyo van Oosterom started the ambient collective CHI in 1983. Jacobus Derwort, a musician friend with Hanyo was the first musician to join CHI. Together, they went to the magic rock “The Kallikatsou” on the island of Patmos, Greece.
Here, Hanyo had stayed for months in a cave for some deep soul-searching. He heard CHI in the silence of the night like a message from out of space. Being together at the Kallikatsou they shaped the foundation of CHI, making handmade flutes from local bamboo and conducting field recordings of water, crickets, owls, goats, wind, etc.

After several years of collaborations with musicians like Willem Cramer and Michel Banabila, they decided to start together the beautiful The Chi Factory with which released (with the help of Ario Farahani and his label Astral Industries) some of the most beautiful records in the history of ambient music
Following the passing of group member J. Derwort in 2019, Hanyo van Oosterom’s legacy work brings about the next evolution of the Chi project: Son of Chi.

A compilation of 10 albums recorded for Astral Industries (UK) 2016-2022, including three bonustracks that were never release or streamed online.

This month we are proud to share a potent hour long mix by San Francisco based DJ and AI music researcher Airali.

From Airali – "I had the idea of a nightare unfolding as a guide". 

While this isn't a traditional a dance mix, it contains the same hypnotic signatures as Airali's club sets. Undulating rhythmic through-lines coax us through a hazy cinematic atmosphere that never lets us get too comfortable. It's not all dark however – the occasional sprinkling of analog instrumentation and ethereal vocals amid machine-chaos and dense percussion conjures flora blooming in a concrete landscape.

Previously based in the UK, Airali has played in London-based clubs, including FOLD, Corsica Studios, Venue MOT, and The Glove That Fits, to name a few. In 2022, she completed a mini tour of Japan where she DJ'd at venues Circus, Spread and Forestlimit. More recently, Airali relocated to and debuted in California, where she has played in Oakland and San Francisco. You can dig more into Airali here:

According to the plaintiff, he pays for the portal&amp#39;s premium service, which now seems meaningless to him, because he cannot understand the dialogues in numerous videos, the titles of which he has meticulously listed.
