S:S 014 comes from Italian/Albanian artist Brad Alloc. 

We came across his mixes after hearing them on a long car journey to a festival last year from what can only be described as a cosmic serendipitous link up with Brad's aka Stiven's best friend.  Being treated to at least 4 of his mixes on our trip, we were impressed with his fluid, genre hopping style, and his ability to weave together ambient, IDM, deep techno and trance in a unique, lucid and hypnotic way - both rhythmically and texturally. 

A regular on Radio Raheem in Milan with his Biocybernetics show, Stiven is also a lover of the outdoors, and is responsible for the aptly named Mycelium forest parties in the mountains of North West Italy that he puts on with his OOM collective.

Benedikt Frey makes his debut on Rhythmic Culture Records with ‘Hoover’. The German producer–known for his previous work on labels such as ESP Institute, Hivern Discs and his own R.i.O. imprint–delivers a 4-track EP that is a journey through the breakbeat spectrum with a distinct focus on sonic experimentation. From the hypnotic dynamic in ‘Blue Lights’ complimented by the vocals of DALO, to the intriguing dance floor rhythms in ‘Henry’ and ‘Deadlines’ and downtempo mesmerising track ‘Trees’, ‘Hoover’ puts another side of Frey’s work in the limelight.

After we've carefully set up a few traps, and after Vladimir's extended set for Strange Weather back in October, we can surely say mission accomplished and entanglement's achieved

We like to think that calling him uncompromising triggered the sweetest response: a deffiant cruise barely over 80bpm, only (if ever) reaching a 100 two hours in. But we're only trying to get some credit for these five hours of dignified dancefloor shatter

Because make no mistake, it's been an undoubtedly clubbing experience, with music so excessively fictional but without ever resorting to mime, as like in a dancer's body, with decisions in progress on full display (you know that exact moment, usually before a sequence or combination of movements, that one fraction of a second that happens in a dancer's body - a moment of tension, an unintended delay between the decision to execute a move and the actual execution ; it's not really rethinking or being indecisive - it's another instance in the dancer's body, inseparable from them but remembering things differently, it's an instinct, like right before you wake up, that rarely privileged moment, with only outlines of consciousness available ; a dream is still in progress, but there's potential to intervene as a director)

MIX070 - Vladimir Ivkovic (貝爾格萊德）[Live for Strange Weather]

We both discovered Philipp Otterbach in late 2020. His debut album “Everything Else Matters” on @riolabel got us hooked for months, becoming our undisputed pandemic-era touchstone — we even secured two vinyl copies just in case. Over the years, he has released two more LP’s that further extended his trademark sound-collage production style, oscillating between a plethora of emotions: hopeful bliss, bittersweet melancholy, murky unease.

Philipp adapts this sensibility into his deejaying by creating adventurously psychedelic sets that feel less like mixes and more like cryptic narratives. This should come as no surprise since he is actually one of the first residents of Düsseldorf’s cult institution Salon des Amateurs.

His Escape Route podcast is a fitting farewell to a very strange year. Equal parts disorienting and cathartic, it’s a winding story that already feels essential to our humble platform.
